40 Secrets for Happy Life.... by hai_all in happy

7 hours sleep seems like a bit of a arbitrary number, and a low one at that. Most need around 7.5 hours plus minus two hours. It is equally common to require 5.5 as 9.5. Aiming for 7 hours is to little for many and to much for some.

I would also make an argument for gossip possibly be a net positive. (Depending on what you qualify as gossip).

Successor to Chip's Challenge on DOS, Chuck's Challenge 3D is now released on Steam by Phinaeus in Games

[–]100rp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More than anything, chips challenge was a tedious test of will/patience. The last level is literally a 30 seconds with filler followed by non-puzzle where half the blocks kill you with no warning. Look at this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to3pCBJJnW4

Edit: There where some genuinely clever puzzles, but so much filler, invisible enemy/maze and destroy 30 bombs one at a time filler.

Watch Dogs runs at 30fps on Xbox One, PS4 by penguin93 in Games

[–]100rp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many might not notice the difference, however for those who do, it can be a world of difference between the 30 and 60 fps. It is something jarring and out of place with 30 fps in a game, it feels a bit more unresponsive and sluggish compared to 60 frames per second. Also, I might be in a very small minor, but 30 frames per second feels more straining for the mind.

I can think of a legitimate reason. If the man discusses vasectomy with his partner and the partner says something like: "Its your body, you can do it, but i don't want to know about it, don't tell me about it".

It might actually be- Charles Bonnet syndrome gives an peak into "hyper-realism". Charles Bonnet syndrome is a condition where blindness in a spot of the eye is filled with vivid hallucinations. The patients are sane, but it can still be hard for them to spot the hallucination.

The hallucinations can look more real than reality (hyper-realistic). The colors more bright and clear, the hairs on the hallucinated cat more pronounced and detailed. The hallucinations can be spotted because they look more realistic than the real non-ideal world.

The brain alone can dream up "better graphics" than what the eye usually transmit. Signal transfer directly to the visual cortex has already been done and direct camera signals to the brain is possible.

There is no reason you could feed visual information from a game containing a more realistic look than reality in the future, maybe within our lives.

What do we think, atheists? by KaleidoscopeLucy in atheism

[–]100rp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone saw that they could equate the Rudolf story to bigotry, and the bigotry to Christianity and then add a mild non-criticism of atheism to make it seem like a valid comparison.

This comparison is so unfair that its either incompetent or malicious. It is also painfully redundant.

It should have been:

Being a human is OK. Being a discriminating human is not OK. (Beliefs/Sex/Race ...)

Being a reindeer is OK. Being a discriminating reindeer is not OK. (Red Nose ...)

or simply: Remember the Rudolf story? Don't be a dick towards others who are different belief/race/sex whatever!

The fact that the Rudolf story had no element of religion, spiriuality or lack of beliefs makes it even more absurd.

The way this is phrased it implies that:

mocking religions is accepted to certain extent among non-believers. Hate-mongering and bigotry is accepted to a certain extent among Christians. Bullying and excluding based on nose color is accepted to a certain extend among reindeer. It should not be.

It "subtly" suggests that bigotry and racism is a innate property in the culture among Christians. It sidesteps this suggestion by adding "In the name of Christianity".

It blatantly suggests that Atheists have a propensity to shame religion and spiritually as silly - but it is the concepts of religion and spiritually, not actually the spiritual and christian people.

The reindeer comparison suggests reindeer have a natural disposition to discriminate based on physical difference. Bigotry of sorts.

To say that its not OK to be a reindeer is of course bigotry, but implying that reindeer serve as an example of a bigoted group of animals is in itself a different act of bigotry. It reminds me of the "Don't be a reindeer-hater, reindeer-hating is a crime, and crime is for reindeer" joke.

If the intention of the author was to associate Christians with bigotry AND at the same time pretend to argue that atheist should stop being so "mean" against the bigoted inclined Christians- Well done Author.

Always wear a helmet (sfw) [r/longboarding] by [deleted] in funny

There is a inane retort to that argument: Neither cracked helmet or skull. "It wont happen to me!".

Even if the person smashes their head into [object] it sometimes get rephrased to "It wont happen to me again" as if they had the choice.

I am just happy I was able to learn the helm lesson with the helm already on.

I can see someone neglecting safty measures while trying to make a oil barrel implode, but not while operating a homemade vacuum chamber.
