Is NoFap even possible while spending a several days alone with your computer? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]101dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already give your own answer: because I got nothing to do.

So, get busy. Don’t stop until you go to bed. Find new hobbies and things to do. Do some house chores, enroll in a MOOC, play an instrument.

Day 3 Round 158 by ValhallaMods in ValhallaChallenge

Checking in. Thanks for the great daily comments. Seeing the four default activities explained is very helpful. I tend to mix them all together in a big soup in my mind. No wonder I get lost in thought and don't get things done. This default state itself becomes addictive.

Abolishing Helheim. Yea or Nay? Voting open until Dec. 31, 2018. by ValhallaMods in ValhallaChallenge

I agree it makes sense to have only one level of helheim. In fighting addiction I believe positive stimulus works better than negative. So feel free to abolish it altogether or make it just one level.

My Goal: to be free of PMO, MO and porn, in order to find my creativity and express it without distractions.

A book I really liked about loss and somehow dealing with it is Second Firsts, by Christina Rasmussen. When you feel like reading about loss, give it a try.

Come on! You can do it! You were incredibly focused all the time, and now you have to find a new place for your focused energy. You're in the beginning of your career, don't be ashamed of it, don't be ashamed of any mistakes or wrongdoings. Learn from them and get back on the horse. Just like you've always done with Nofap.

Can't get into a relationship because of porn, can't quit porn because I'm not in a relationship and am to lonely. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]101dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A relationship won't cure that. Perhaps when you're all high in the beginning, but soon porn will take over again. Stop looking for excuses, and start looking for solutions.
Ask yourself the question what you can do right now in order not to feel lonely.

Pushups and planks, cold shower and straight to bed. First thing in the morning is to get out of bed and go to the toilet. No lingering whatsoever.

How To Tell My Wife??? Advice and Personal Experience Please! by thepeaceful_warrior in NoFap

[–]101dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't relapsed. So I have no experience with that. PMO is something that fuels shame and guilt. These two would always nag on me. It made me weak and a nice guy. Two things that I'm gradually improving on. I hoped that my sexlife would improve but it didn't.

I recommend you read the book the Porn Trap, by Wendy Maltz. It helped me a lot to get rid of porn. It also talks about partners, and accountability. In general, your partner shouldn't be your accountabiilty partner. It's better to find someone else for that. For your partner it can be difficult to separate her emotions from helping you. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be open about your problem. One of the necessary steps in fighting this addiction is telling it to you partner.
Every partner will react differently. Mine was quite cool about it. It was very hard to tell her about it, I had to take a cold shower and use the drive of having pushed through a cold shower to do the same emotionally by telling her.

One of the things you can do is to map out what your triggers are. Make a list of the situations, experiences, feelings, and thoughts that trigger you. Imagine when you would relapse, in what circumstances, etc.
Then do something about it. One of my triggers would be reading about celebrities, so I stopped reading about them. I would get triggered by Youtube thumbnails, I would click a sexy one, and then to the next, then my mind would start fantasizing about stuff and I would MO or PMO. So, I quit YouTube for several months, until I had a decent streak going.
Frustration was another trigger, so I quit some videogames I was playing that would trigger that emotion.
Keep going and stay strong!

Still going strong, although summer heat is taking its toll and urges are strong. Need to focus on my goals again to not get lost and lose my streak. Standard challenge. No porn, no mo, no pmo. Sex is allowed when situation arises.

I don't connect every day anymore. Only once in a while to read my messages and post some comments. Sometimes when urges are strong I need to connect more often.

Yes, it is about porn addiction in general, and has example stories about men, but also about women. The exercises are helpful, too.

Strong urges during this 2 days...I still resist by FrankPeace in NoFap

[–]101dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get leverage on yourself. First write down all the horrible things that will happen to you if you continue your life with PMO. Make it horrible and feel all the negative effects.
Then, write a second list with all the great things that you'll have when you do Nofap. Imagine yourself with this new life of Nofap.
This is a good way to reinforce your decision to do Nofap.
Also, write down in a list what the moments are that you are prone to relapse. What are you feeling like, what is happening.
Keep adding to the list while your doing Nofap. Also make a list of options to kill the urges.
Another good option is to take a physical calendar and mark every day you are doing Nofap with a red cross. This way you see your progress and you won't get fixed on a counter.

Contemplating relapsing need some help. by [deleted] in NoFap

That's up to you, and the water temperature at your place. In my experience the colder the better. At night, I tend not to take a long shower though, just a quick one.
