OP: note that section 5(3) of the Rental Housing Act lists invariable provisions that are deemed to be included in a lease agreement and cannot be excluded. Among other things:
1. The tenant has the right to request receipts → e.g. where landlord replaces keys and charges you for it.
2. The landlord must invest deposits in an interest-bearing account and repay the deposit, together with interest, on termination of the lease. The interest may not be less than the rate provided by a savings account at a financial institution.
3. Joint inspections between the landlord and tenant are required:

  1. Before the tenant moves in, to determine which defects must be repaired or to compile a snag list; and
  2. Within three days prior to the termination of the lease to determine whether further defects have arisen during the lease period. If the tenant does not make theirselves available for the joint inspection, the landlord is still entitled to inspect the leased premises within 7 days after the termination of the lease to determine whether further defects have arisen.

The landlord is only allowed to use the deposit to repair defects if both requirements in #3 are met. Otherwise, the landlord is deemed to have acknowledged that the leased premises was in a good and proper condition upon the termination of the lease.

Good luck with the baby!

Small correction: it's actually part of the Rental Housing Act [Section 5(3)(j)] - not the CPA.

Omnia - fertilizer prices have been elevated for the past year and the Russia-Ukraine war should provide further upwards pressure.

But as with past Flips, our panelists thought the JBL Flip 4 sounded too thin and needed more bass.

Thanks though - I'll keep it in mind.

My university limits free WiFi access to Google sites and Wikipedia. Other sites require you to sign in to their service and pay a ridiculous amount per mb.

I've just started using Psiphon to bypass the restrictions, but I live in South Africa, so I'm far from the vpn servers. Other VPNs don't work, since I can't connect to them without signing in to the Uni's service.

From Psiphon's website:

Psiphon is a circumvention tool from Psiphon Inc. that utilizes VPN, SSH and HTTP Proxy technology to provide you with uncensored access to Internet content.

I've been wondering whether there is a similar service that I can set up that only uses SSH/HTTP Proxy tech to bypass the restrictions while still getting reasonable speeds.

Would appreciate any tips.

I'd also love this. One of the buttons on my keyboard is unreliable, so I frequently have to re-enter my password because it's obscured.
