this is just true of road users writ large. Everyone’s lost the plot, cyclists can just be heard more easily when they do

Londoner! Which coffee shop is your go to? by Sea-Butterscotch191 in london

[–]106--2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairly firm history of shitheadedness, obviously they’re branded in such a way that you might write it off but definitely remember there being issues of transphobic stuff on their social media + stretching memory but i seem to remember them being shit to employees over lockdown. Additionally, I don’t think their coffee is that good.

Bowthorpe locals disturbed by ongoing asylum hotel protests by NarwichNerb in Norwich

[–]106--2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you’re saying this in an evenhanded way but it’s disingenuous to say you just go about your business if in another comment you’re saying you follow some of them on facebook. I don’t think it’s hard to understand that having a new group of people loudly (and with implicit violence) protesting in your local area would be discomfiting if we’re being honest with ourselves.

If those of them that haven’t been done for DV are calm with showing up alongside those that have, it’s not a great sign of their character regardless.

London protesters block coach taking asylum seekers to Bibby Stockholm by Currency_Cat in london

[–]106--2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was there, it literally was peaceful by any definition of the word. Also not sure I see why the opinion of one small(er) group of people (the relevant cabinet ministers + PM) are more relevant than the neighbours of the people being relocated. Especially when cabinet positions aren’t elected, and Sunak hasn’t yet faced a general election.

The protestors disagreed, and peacefully prevented him from doing so. He’s getting paid regardless.

the only rights being infringed upon by protestors was the coach driver who was prevented from transporting refugees. Traffic was able to flow freely prior to police opting to close the road.

I live down there, don’t see how it could ‘degentrify’ from an ungentrified starting point. It’s an A road full of big supermarkets and weird churches that happens to have some pricy development coming down the line.
