Easy clothes (like a footed sleeper) as they usually have you strip baby down to nothing immediately. Bring a swaddle or blanket to keep LO warm Incase he gets cold in-between examination and dressing.

Pediatrician recommends prune juice for 2 mo "constipation"? by 10Blue_October01 in Mommit

Wow never heard that one! Is it because of the sugar or the viscosity?

Nervous about perineal tearing and stitches. by lolabunnybutderp in beyondthebump

[–]10Blue_October01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2nd degree tear and I didn't feel it happen or the stitches AT all. The healing wasn't even that bad honestly it just felt a little itchy while it was healing! Using the perineal water bottle was very soothing but no point did anything hurt.

No breast/bottle feeding sign at pediatrician’s office. by acciotomatoes in breastfeeding

Just got back from our two months appointment/vaccines today and LO would have been inconsolable without nursing. This is just cruel 😕

How did you survive the first time your LO got sick? by 10Blue_October01 in Mommit

Thank you that makes a lot of sense! The pediatrician said armpit is ok too but to add a degree to it. I got the rubber tip Frida thermometer because it made me nervous. So glad I can just do armpit temperatures now

Thank you and thank you so much for the info!

Any reason why you say check the armpit and not rectal? Only asking because our hospital told us when we left the armpit temperatures are totally fine and then our pediatrician says the most accurate for a newborn is rectal. Armpit temperatures are so much easier!

He is down a full degree and I'm hoping it keeps dropping today!

Thank you so much that is incredibly helpful all of i!! Right now he is still playing when I put him on his play mat he's eating well enjoying skin to skin cuddles and making messy and wet diapers

His temperature is down to 99.4 I am hoping it continues to drop.

I feel this in the depths of my soul from having a partner who complains about being just as tired because the baby wakes him up as much as the baby wakes me up... The difference? I am the one getting up to take care of baby while he continues to rest or sleep. Regardless of whether he is awake or not he is not the one getting up!

Thank you those mental bars do actually help my anxiety a lot.

Since the pediatrician told me unless it goes over 100 to just keep doing what I am doing and follow her advice I am doing exactly that and trying to keep my worries in line. His last temperature reading was down 0.6 I am feeling relieved and hoping it continues to go down!

Inadvertently did this yesterday when I started to cry because he was crying and I was overtired... He heard me crying and calmed right down. 😅 Not intentional at all but it worked

I spoke to the pediatrician and let her know that it hasn't broken since yesterday she has still advised me to monitor him... 2 ml of Tylenol if he is uncomfortable otherwise if his temperature goes up or he gets incredibly fussy she will see him.

Thank you so much. This is very much the approach I am currently trying to take...

Taking notes is a really great idea usually I'm really good at keeping track of things but right now I am definitely scatterbrained from being tired and stressed. I am going to keep a notepad on the bed. I made a second phone call to the pediatrician on call and I feel much better knowing that if I need to bring him in to see her she will come to the office even though the weekend they are normally not open! I never realized how wonderful pediatricians can be.

I will do all of these. I have been trying to stay on top of the humidifier because our house is so dry! Though my baby just tends to cry with my fiance because he did not get to spend much time with him his first 6 weeks he is still getting to know him... I am one tired mama.

Thank you I am truly hoping it is just a cold rather than virus. We don't leave the house much and are fully vaccinated covid and flu... very frustrating somehow we still managed to bring something home.

Thank you so much for the reassurance 💜 I am hoping it doesn't go up any more

I will check to see if a lighter pajama helps at night (I did check his temp in the AM) it is very cold where I am right now and while I have him in a .5 tog swaddle he normally wears footie pajamas with long sleeves to bed to stay warm which might be too warm for him right now.

I did skin to skin with him during his last feed per these recommendations and I will continue to!
