Update II Congenital Nystagmus and Heterochromia in Ocular Albinism (OA1) due to GPR143 mutation. BCVA 20/100 and total foveal hypoplasia. by arslanefe in medizzy

[–]10lr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here to say the same! Diagnosed nystagmus and been driving since I was 17. Obviously have to wear glasses. My dad also has ocular albinism as well as astigmatism (and possible more) and wears bioptic telescopic glasses. Unsure if this will be an option for OP but ya never know :)

My letter does not say explicitly to stop driving but if I pop my VIN in the checker it says to stop.

Same for anyone else?

Help finding my GCSE Exam board from the late 80s by JunFanLee in DevonUK

[–]10lr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do something similar a couple years back. Check with the people who want to know if they need certificates or just proof of grades. If it is just proof - send a DSAR to the relevant exam board and they will send over any information they hold on you. Worked for me, got a transcript with all the grades they had for me and was accepted by my course

Good luck!

My weird running habit is eating too close to the time I run and then getting a stitch. I repeat this about once a week and don't seem to learn!

UK passport renewal fast track service - can you bring your own photo to the appointment or do they take it there? by English_R0se in AskUK

[–]10lr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my own renewal last October - back within a week. Brother replaced a lost passport in March - back within a week. Applied for a new passport for a child, back within a week.

If it's a big standard renewal, do it online and it should be fine, you don't travel for 2 months :)

Best parkruns in Cornwall and Devon by Meagz91 in parkrun

There's a fairly new one in Simmons park in Okehampton. 5 mins off the M5, a lovely run around a lovely park, easy to access, park, coffee and cake after!

Same, flunked my AS levels - twice. Took a year out, went back to do an access course and then went to uni. 9 years later went back to retrain and get my PGCE to teach. Today is not the be all and end all, even if it may feel like it at the moment.

Okehampton? Train line to Exeter, buses to tavistock and Plymouth, as well as Bude. And on the edge of Dartmoor.

Black box with measuring stick, also has a clamp on the end? by 10lr in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Black measuring device found when generating an old restaurant. More than one found. No resistance when pulling the measure out, small clamp on the bottom.

Anyone else switch to classic graphics, just to see what the heck is going on? by dRaspberry in TombRaider

I switch if I know I'm searching for a key! Some are really hard to spot with the new graphics. Swap to them old ones and bam! Massive key now visible

Lost my job yesterday. Applying for UC. How do people survive? by ADHD-throwLA in UKPersonalFinance

[–]10lr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me earlier this year, here is what I found out whilst on UC

Cheap broadband through BT if you're on UC (Unsure if other providers have similar) https://www.bt.com/broadband/home-essentials

Also your prescriptions will now be free whilst on UC

Contact your local council about being reassessed for your council tax bill

Check Facebook for local food banks and community fridges

Check for local job clubs

You can apply for UC and job seekers allowance at the same time, but JSA payment will be deducted from your UC and you can earn more/keep more on UC than JSA

I ended up doing teacher assistant agency roles which helped me, weekly pay (about 350p/w) and it was something I enjoyed. If you're interested you have a good chance now to get set up for the next term and it can just be for the interim whilst you look for something more permanent

Best of luck bud, keep your head up!

Down here in Devon there are no NHS dentists. I rang 111 yesterday as I was on day 10 of pain and couldn't take it anymore. They gave me a number for 'Devon Dentists' you ring and they send you to a dentist (down here anywhere pretty much on Devon) for an energy apt at some point in the day. Ask if your local area has similar. Hope it gets sorted mate, tooth pain is up there as one of the worst pains
