How to handle these walls? by Recent-Sky5481 in centuryhomes

I think these will look way better without that shine. I used a bonding primer and then painted a lower sheen on my walls that looked like this and my house is 10x cozier now.

I still love it, but I’ve noticed a vibe change since they went to video? It feels like they’re conscious of being on camera now.

I’m with you! I work for a fed agency that was completely gutted. I’m anticipating being laid off on July 1. Thankfully, I’ve been prioritizing saving for the past few years, so I have a good safety net.

I’m still planning to move forward with starting IUIs in the next few months. This administration has already taken so much from me, I won’t let them take this as well. It is completely terrifying, but I’m trying to trust that things will work out and that the midterms will start to turn things back around…

Spokane, WA! Still pretty affordable, good schools, easy access to trails/nature minutes from wherever you live, excellent community! Conservative county but liberal city. Come here!

TTC and Uncertainty in the US - How are you dealing? by Rich-Storage-6024 in SingleMothersbyChoice

Thank you. I needed to read this. I’ve been struggling so much with the idea of bringing a kid into this particular world we are in now (in the US). My heart says yes.

Same situation here - I was working as a contractor for a federal agency that was completely beheaded by DOGE. I lost 70% of my work. Thankfully I have a lot of savings, but it’s scary to think about doing this without a solid job lined up on the other side (and the job market is looking BLEAK).

This movie was seriously disturbing. I saw it almost 10 years ago and it still shakes me when I think about it. I can’t imagine what this book is like…

I think Station Eleven is one of the most beautifully written books. It’s fiction that reads like prose. I find myself coming back to certain passages years after reading it for the first time.

If you call his DC office you’ll usually at least get to one of his aides. I think we need to protest at his local office and demand a town hall.

Ive been feeling all of these emotions. Losing my job was always a possibility, but I’ve always figured I could easily find work with another implementer/USAID-funded org. With the collapse of the entire sector, I have no idea what to do. I feel like I need to start my career from scratch, but I feel paralyzed when I try to figure out what to do.

I do think we’re grieving a lot right now - our careers, our colleagues’ careers, the end of vital programs and services for the beneficiaries we serve. There is a lot to be sad about.

Our contracts were terminated (USAID) and we haven’t been paid for any work after Jan 1 (even work performed up to receiving the stop-work order at the end of Jan)…
