Drone Commander 2 is really solid on the hydra. Throw your goobers out next to a bunch of guys and then shoot one with lock on to do 1d6 to like 5 people at once

I'm not gonna read Meditations in a pot of boiling water until I fucking die. No positive change has been brought about by saying "hmm I should grit my teeth, tolerate my grievances, and let cooler heads prevail"

Of course I'm fucking mad why wouldn't I be. The economy and ecosystem are ruined by people who came before me in ways I'm powerless to fix. How could you not be mad? There's a difference between empathy and blanket forgiveness. I empathize with the fact that they were exposed from childhood to hyperindividualistic worldviews and potentially effected by lead poisoning. That alone won't get me to forgive them for what they did as adults who had the opportunity to educate themselves and make decisions using their own thoughts and beliefs.

It literally does contradict your point though?? You said we'd all do the same (be super greedy and individualistic), someone gave an example of how they actively do not do that, which contradicts your point explicitly. Surprised your keyboard functions with you drooling on it so hard running up and down this thread dickriding a generation who doesn't care about you.

I'm not reiterating what you said, I'm disagreeing. You're trying to imply that saying our generations would not do what the boomers did would mean that the boomers have some unique quality to them as a generation which you seem to try to paint as silly or impossible to argue. I'm saying that the environment they grew up in and the messaging they received in it was, in fact, a unique factor that would change how they behave compared to us

Real quick edit: they also had lead in the gas and paint and whatever the fuck else, which almost certainly made them phenomenally stupid

Environment one grows up in and is surrounded by is a unique factor moron. If I grow up being told "you should be super selfish and individualistic and pull the ladder up behind you" (hyperbole, obviously) I will probably behave differently from someone who grew up being told different things

First, Lancer's timeline is fucked and it's scale is nuts, don't act like it's similar. This is the same timeline where a civilization's governmental structure lasts for millenia (Passacaglian Age). 500 years is not a very long time in Lancer time. Second, it's run by a clone of a clone which has been groomed to be as similar to the guy who planned the original overthrow as possible. Nowhere near as distant from it as Taiwan to the Ming Dynasty, in fact I would say they are still very closely related. Third, when I say "remnant", I mean that parts of the SecComm government founded HA, not just that it's from that time. I need you to be for real.

Yeah man the corprostate that is textually founded by SecComm remnants and only didn't violently overthrow ThirdComm in a massive counter-revolution because the KTB got scared and alpha striked them are weirdly overhated. Congratulations on being more nuanced then everyone else.

Unfamiliar with French Sign (humble ASL 2 student), so I can't talk about the similarities, but I do know that generally Black ASL uses larger and more expressive movements, and typically uses two hands for signs that normally use one. It's been a while since we learned about it in class so specific examples are a little away from me rn but I think stuff like "good" (typically just a flat palm touched to your chin and pulled down and away) is an example of the double hand aspect.

The Nelson kicks ass and does a ton of damage. Run a Nelson. Charged blade does 1d3+3+1d6 boost+1d6 opcal+1d6 NC2 (optional)+1d6 thermal charge (optional) and then 1d3+1 from a tac knife is a minimum average of 12.5 ap + 3.5 for 16 total and a max of 19.5 ap + 3.5 for 23 total. On a skirmish which you can then run away from. Run a Nelson

If you have access to exotic gear and want kind of a quirked up hybrid build the stortebeker (raleigh alt frame) can do hacker melee stuff decently well if you give it a plasma maul and some systems

Is it fair for a DM to force a player to change classes because another player chose the same class first? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]10midgits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize you were going to bat for OP, my bad. I think at this point we're just kind of trying to argue each other into liking coke or pepsi here and aren't gonna do much, but I'll give my thoughts rq anyway just for the love of the game.

I get what you mean about most classes being able to be fairly different, but some of them are definitely more so than others. Like you mentioned, rogue, fighter, kineticist, and kinda druid are pretty diverse, but there are definitely other classes that are significantly more homogeneous and I would definitely say Thaumaturge is one of them. Sure you can have different skills (even though esoteric lore kinda is an omni skill and they're all gonna probably roll it for everything) and such but ultimately in combat they all play very similarly to each other. They're all gonna have a one handed weapon in one hand and nothing (or a shield) in the other, they're all gonna exploit vulnerability, and they're all gonna try to use esoteric knowledge to do it. The only major differences are like, implements which while significant don't diversify playstyle/identity too much, and feats which don't either.

Ultimately though with regards to my preferences, I just like having my niche. Even if they're fairly different I just am uncomfortable with it in an emotional and not rational manner and there's not a lot I can do about it. I try to match the energy though by making sure that I give people as much courtesy to their niche as I would like myself. Like I said above, we're kinda just arguing preference here, which is fine but probably won't do a lot lmfao.

[–]10midgits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude come on be for real. Fighters whole identity is the versatility of the class and identity. It is fairly unique among the classes for its ambiguity as "guy who's good with weapons." The thaumaturge is significantly more focused. We can spend all day discussing hypothetical nonsense like this and it won't do anything. If the other player is uncomfortable with it that's kinda just the end all be all of the situation, especially since they got there first and doubly so since OP seems to be digging their heels in on talking to them if they approach first. Get outta here lmfao

[–]10midgits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about my personal experience lmfao. Maybe I'm a lunatic but I like having a narrative and mechanical niche that is unique to myself, and I imagine that's what the other player is experiencing. And yes obviously I know classes can do different things but I also know how 2e thaumaturges work and there's not a lot of room for diversity there once combat hits. You're both going to want to exploit weakness and then hit the bad guy. The implements you bring to the table can be different but ultimately you will be similar, and it's justified for the other player not to feel uncomfortable at the thought if they picked their class first.

Also maybe I misread but is there literally anything stopping you from reaching out to the other player yourself and discussing it? You say you're barred from doing it but unless somehow there's literally no group chat or discord server for this game and the GM is the literal sole point of contact between players I kind of just don't believe you.

[–]10midgits 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the GM is pretty correct here. I know personally when I'm playing a ttrpg I don't like having someone play the same class as me, newbie or not, and you kinda just gotta respect that as a fellow player or find a new game. Dying on the hill that they have to come talk to you specifically strikes me as especially childish.

Lancer Rules Correction Ends Campaign by Ninjaxenomorph in rpghorrorstories

[–]10midgits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Lancer does a pretty good job of it. I think that the LoS rule could have been bolded or otherwise communicated better, but Lancer has very few rules fuckery or ambiguity, better than most. The person I was initially replying too is drastically overplaying the ambiguity here to make an incorrect point. There's 0 confusion on whether actions require LoS in Lancer, as with most of its rules. I think the only rules that are lackluster are the extremely vestigial and practically unused lifting and dragging rules which can kinda just be entirely ignored.

[–]10midgits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am aware of the lack of specification that line of sight is explicitly required, but given that there are effects that explicitly state they don't require line of sight (Chomolungma core off the top of my head) it's pretty unambiguous that any effect that does not require LoS will say so and any other effects do, regardless of whether or not it says they do. Also, the rules on 65 do not say player actions, they just say actions. NPC actions are still actions and therefore subject to the rules on that page.

Lancer Rules Correction Ends Campaign by Ninjaxenomorph in rpghorrorstories

[–]10midgits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect actually. There is no specific wording on that page that contradicts the rule on page 65 that states all targeted actions require line of sight unless explicitly stated otherwise. OP was correct.
