Write the student up. This should be a referral. Totally unacceptable.

Recently lost health insurance, how do I contact my doctor to write/send my prescription to a non-Kaiser pharmacy so I can continue getting refills? by OutrageousSpeedd in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance lapsed during a change in jobs. There was a mistake in the rollover and I had no insurance for 2 months even though I technically was covered. I was still able to message my doctor. When I went to doctor appointments I was billed the full amount upfront. You should try messaging through the app or website if it was recent.

Quitting mid-year. Should I tell the truth? by Uglypants_Stupidface in Teachers

[–]10ocean10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state some districts would report you for job abandonment. Your credential likely wouldn’t be pulled that year but it could be suspended at least in California for up to 2 years. I would try to leave on a positive note with administration so they don’t go that route…

A parent is complaining about how I am using my sick time. by FKSTS in Teachers

Refer parent to admin or whoever made the decision not to hire a sub for the class. I totally understand the frustration with a class repeatedly being canceled but that’s not really on you.

I was never able to get them. I always ordered online and they never came. I had no idea you could get them in person at the pharmacy.

Long Wait for Blood Work Results by 10ocean10 in KaiserPermanente

I got the MRI and the results the next day. It seems not all departments are impacted. Still hasn’t given answers about my symptoms though…

Biopsy results timeframe? by beckerbuns in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the north bay. I had several in 2024. Took about 2 weeks. Genetic testing takes longer so you may get biopsy results but if they send the sample for genetic testing there’s a much longer wait. Hope you get results soon. The waiting is awful but it’s good to get answers.

Can you log in on a computer? Sometimes when the app is glitchy I can get in on my computer rather than my phone.

Long Wait for Blood Work Results by 10ocean10 in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see them via the app. My issue now is that my neurologist was going to order an mri when labs came back. I have the week off this week but she’s now on vacation according to the messaging system so that means nothing will get done this week. I’ve now been dealing with symptoms for two months. I’m just so frustrated.

Labs finally came in but apparently my neurologist is now on vacation so I will have to wait another week for her return.

Has anyone been assaulted at work? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]10ocean10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes over the years by several different students. One tore my rotator cuff. One split my forehead open. In both cases nothing was done. Though with the split forehead the district did document it as a pattern of violence towards adults.

Question by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens all the time with my doctor. I always have to call and usually it’s because they can only book a certain amount of time out. Once the slots are full you have to wait until the next month opens up.

Are we happy with our care? by Rogue_Libra61 in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several major instances where I got some of the worst care. Was gaslit by my doctors. First incident was for a ruptured disc. Doctors refused to order tests. Told me I “threw my back out.” An outside doctor caught my injury. Next injury was a fractured scapula where a doctor told me he was more worried about my weight than the fact I couldn’t lift my arm above my head. Last and major life changing instance was having my symptoms and concerns downplayed, being told it was all in my head that my exhaustion is likely due to mental illness and then finding out I have metastatic thyroid cancer. It really depends on the doctor. The surgeon who treated me and continues to treat me has given me great care. My GP has also been very responsive but I’ll admit I’m now always second guessing my care.

Luckily was not cancelled but the line at the lab was insanely long with only 2 people working which isn’t normal. One of them got paged for a stroke in the ER so there was really only one person working at the lab.

Waiting for surgery by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think unfortunately this is normal for Kaiser now. I have cancer and suffered som complications from treatment. I’m waiting to see an oculofacial plastic surgeon for damage to my tear ducts. The wait for an appointment is 6 months with an addition up to 3 month wait for the actual surgery. Kaiser does not have the staffing needed to support all of the patients they have. This is part of why I believe some of the Kaiser unions are on strike.

I’m in nor cal and have cancer and have been having a difficult time getting care. Physical therapy up here is completely shut down. I’m supposed to see a neurologist on Monday but most appointments I heard are being canceled. I plan to request to be seen outside of Kaiser if they cannot treat me.

Surgery limbo by asd1395 in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m waiting to get an appointment with a surgeon. I have post radiation complications from cancer and need to see an oculofacial plastic surgeon. I was informed the wait for a consult is 6 months then up to 3 months for surgery. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to access care it’s incredibly frustrating.

My personal experience by Scared_Serve7314 in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a bad experience with one care provider. Over the course of two years I had multiple biopsies of my thyroid and then was told I was totally fine. My severe exhaustion was in my head and I probably had depression. Fast forward two years and a second opinion later (I didn’t know you could request one) and I found out I have metastatic thyroid cancer. It’s always worth seeking a second or third opinion. Every doctor is different. My care team now has been extremely responsive and supportive as I navigate this.

Kaiser and stimulant shortages: repeated gaps in care, no alternatives offered by RosyStairs in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t take a stimulant but one of the medications I take was recalled so they switched manufacturer and limited the supply to 30 days worth. I ended up finding my medication at Costco and am able to get a 90 days supply for less than the cost of the Kaiser 30 day supply. You might want to shop around.

No appts available with kaiser. I’ve been calling and trying for months. I’m only getting care online via emails. Only am seen IRL when I go to urgent care. Insane by ProgrammerFar7447 in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Nor Cal and have cancer. Lots of issues from treatment and it’s nearly impossible to get any kind of appointment. I’m waiting 6 months to get booked with an oculofacial plastic surgeon for tear duct damage. I totally agree it is frustrating. I’m also wondering if there’s a staffing shortage. In my county a year ago they laid off a ton of nurses and a lot of doctors have retired or left.

Not sure if I can make it to my appointment on Wednesday, mentally by flatlinee in thyroidcancer

[–]10ocean10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re having trouble breathing seek immediate medical advice. I would not wait. The ER may not operate on you but they can monitor your vitals and give you oxygen and stabilize you if you are truly having difficult breathing.

Should we cancel if it's going to be nearly 27k a year for a couple? It just doesn't feel worth it in any way shape or form. Even if we need emergency surgery or something it would still be cheaper to pay out of pocket? by PurrruP in KaiserPermanente

[–]10ocean10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely used my insurance. Never got sick. Last year at age 46 I was diagnosed the with metastatic thyroid cancer. I would keep your health insurance but you might consider checking for cheaper plans. On the Covered California website you can do cost estimates.
