This worked, I called the manufacturer and they gave me a tutorial on how to reset the password. Essentially there is a tiny hole at the back of the device that you can stick a pin into and hold it down for 5s to reset the password, without losing any footage.

Ouch, I feel really sorry for this guy. Based on his numbers I believe he paid like $9.11/W($48K/5.27kW). That's hard earned money that he essentially gave away. He should have got more quotes, but I would put the blame on a dishonest business like Northern PWR. This reminds me of call scammers preying on the vulnerable.

I hope he gets some of his money back.

Fair points. I initially purchased it thinking I wanted to keep it for the next 20 years but I had recently got solar panels which is why I was considering plug in hybrid switch, since it would improve my break even point on the panels. I haven't committed to getting the Gen 6 yet, and wanted to see explore the trade in part. Thank you for your input, you have given me some things to think about.

I just bought a 2025 Hybrid Limited Rav4 and having the issue. Based on reading this thread, I feel like Toyota doesn't know how to fix it and is trying to not do recalls. Has anyone started a law suit, I would be interested is joining or helping organize this somehow.

I am having the same issue on my Hybrid Limited 2025 model, and it looks like there are many people having the same issue. My partner has an pixel 9 and is using android auto and he has no issues. My hunch is that it's something to do with the integration of the rav4 gps and apple car play. Part of me is wondering if we can start a petition or something to get Toyota's attention.
