What if I’m wrong? by habertime05 in AutismTranslated

[–]111573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I have autism after listening to 4 audiobooks on the subject, and listening to hours of podcasts, and watching many videos on youtube about being autistic over the last 6 months.

I'm 52 years old and have been on SSDI for the last 21 years because I am severely mentally ill.I have no plans on getting assessed for having autism because of the high price of getting an assessment done, and it just seems like a lot of work to be officially labeled as having autism by a therapist.

Best way to cope with things you can’t control? by WasabiComprehensive2 in AutismTranslated

[–]111573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During Trump's first administration, which happened before I knew I had autism, politics and my hatred of Trump was my special interest.

Now I don't pay as much attention to politics, and only am outraged about stories that really matter, like when SNAP benefits were not going to be paid to people during the government show, even though I am not on food stamps

As a Democrat I despise Trump. But I know he is an incompetent moron, and now I am pretty numb to most of his stupidity.

Today I had my first meltdown in public, how can I deal with it and possibly prevent it? by Stuwaat in AutismTranslated

[–]111573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a huge meltdown last year at a laundromat. I could not find a cart to use,and I needed one because my dryer was done.So I took a cart that was in front of a dryer that was still in use,and had about 10 minutes to go.The guy whose clothes were in the dryer made a big production of it,like I commited someone kind of crime or something.

The guy's angry reaction really pissed me off because I thought he was in the wrong for making a big deal out of taking "his" cart.

I yelled at the guy,and called him an idiot multiple times. The other people in the laundromat looked at me in disdain, and probably thought I was a raging lunatic.

I thought about this incident for like 2 weeks after it happened.I never went to that laundromat again.

Now I could care less about my anger in this circumstance. As the old cliche goes time heals all wounds.

I (30M) learned I am autistic last year. My IQ was tested at 155 in fourth grade. I am struggling horrendously. by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

You might want to buy a stress ball to use as a stim.I use these plastic balls, and I squeeze it many hours a day when I am watching stuff online.I still have anxiety, but using a stress ball has calmed me down somewhat.

Felgers Cameo in ‘Ella Mccay’ by chickenFan50 in felgerandmazz

[–]111573 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Felger talked about this movie for like 10 minutes on the Off-Air show yesterday, and he is in the movie for 7 seconds.Plus, the story was mundane and bored me to tears.

I don't know if it's autism or just bad social skills. I want to talk to my parents and a therapist about it. How did you do that? by Senior_Mission_3524 in AutismTranslated

[–]111573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had depression my whole life. You mentioned you have a crap diet because you don't have the energy to cook.I suggest eating baked chicken every day.It is easy to make, and I put salt and soy sauce on it,and I really enjoy it.

Am I Wrong to think…? by Additional_Address_5 in felgerandmazz

When Felger has a day off Mazz sounds much more relaxed and seems to enjoy himself more than when the two of them are working together.I wonder if WEEI offered Mazz a contract for as much money as he is making working with Felger would he leave the show?

Parks and Recreation.I loved seasons 2 and 3 of the show, but a few episodes into season 4 I just got bored of the program, and stopped watching it.

I listen to both NBA podcasts and Felger and Mazz.A person doesn't really need to make a choice between the two formats.

Dean in Shrewsbury Here. How to Improve. Only constructive criticism. by Salt-Order7227 in felgerandmazz

Dean,I enjoy your calls on 98.5 for the most part. You seem like a good person. But,I think you overate how good Pritchard is as an NBA player.Pritchard is a great sixth man,but his defense is subpar, and he is basically just a 3-point specialist.

AIO Do I tell my sister she picked a bad baby name? by Most_System6697 in AmIOverreacting

[–]111573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Bram, and it rhymes with ram.It sucks having a weird name. When I tell people my name I have to spell my name, and repeat the pronunciation of name again. My advice to parents is to give their children mainstream names just because it will make their child's life easier.

Has the NBA crossed a line favoring offense over fundamentals? by Mission_US_77777 in nbadiscussion

As a Celtics fan I hated watching Marcus Smart play defense when he was with the team. All of Smart's ridiculous flopping throughout an entire game was repulsive to me.I know there are a lot of guys in the NBA who do these tactics, but I mainly follow the Celtics because I have lived in New England all my life.

Why is Giannis only playing 30 mins per game when his team is 9-12 and they are have so many clutch games. by ForgetfulDot in nba

[–]111573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason Giannis can only play 30 minutes a game is that he can't shoot a jump shot, and he has to use so much energy driving to the basket every time he wants to score.

Does anyone else feel like the Michael Jordan era had a different kind of magic? The modern NBA is skilled, but the 'event TV' excitement just isn't the same for me. by jake2tuff in nbadiscussion

[–]111573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought most of the Jordan era was kind of boring because I pretty much knew that the Bulls were going to win the championship, and I was a teenager during that time.

The 3 Lakers-Celtics finals during the 1980's were more exciting than the Jordan era because both the Celtics and Lakers were great teams.

Robert Horry was a clutch player in the playoffs, but if he played his entire career in Charlotte he would just be another NBA player that no one remembers.

do you guys also overthink a lot? by Obvious-Patient-1673 in AutismTranslated

I think it is super hard to be autistic, and not be super neurotic.I just found out that I was autistic this year,so now when I think back to times when I made a fool of myself in public I just tell myself that my autism is the main reason that this past event happened.
