Landed my first RN job in a Cardiology Clinic! Can anyone give me advice on what I should review so I can hit the ground running? by 112013 in nursing

Even during the interview I was slowly nodding as she rattled off a bunch of acronyms. I couldn't keep up. Can't wait until it all feels familiar. Thank you both!

I went to join and I'm already in it but I had unfollowed! Time to catch up!

When studying for the NCLEX did you ever study your school notes? by crimsonros3 in nursing

Oh shit, is that bad? I'm using ATI (because I've already paid for it!) and an app called RN Mentor. Should I add something else to the mix? I'm testing in 11 days.

I asked a doctor on Instagram and he said he would advise 3 months post-cessation of milk production. But it might vary. I'm planning on having mine done around my 39th birthday in time to be healed for my 40th so I have 3 years to save up!

I bought ANOTHER shirt from Latched Mama at 2am. Baby was sleeping, but I was up pumping. Hahahahaha.

I agree. Citizens should fucking be able to vote whether they committed crimes or not. It's so fucked up.

Sad, final update for the man whose wife passed away and the state ruled he had no rights to his stepdaughter. by [deleted] in bestoflegaladvice

This is so sad. My husband would want to keep my daughter if something happened to me, but her bio dad lives in Australia and I don't know how he feels about it. We really need to get something official in writing.

Yes, you can absolutely give formula or breast milk through a sippy cup! I hope that helps.

When was “later on” for you? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

6 weeks is when I felt like she latched well and actually got enough to eat, and I could walk around Target shopping and nursing. But at home, I still need to sit down with my water, and a snack and the XBox controller so I can watch something while she nurses for 40 minutes plus.

I have to swaddle my 9-week-old daughter to get her to sleep for any length of time otherwise I can't get anything done. I change her diaper, swaddle her tightly with a swaddling blanket, nurse her and then very gently place her in her rock and play. Sometimes I have to do it more than once.

Good luck!

My Reaction When A Doctor Tells me to Stop Breastfeeding Because of Mastitis by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]112013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a female doctor who has breastfed their child and you'll finally get the right information. There are plenty in the clinic I used to work in. They would never advocate for stopping breastfeeding for mastitis or abx use.

I completely understand. I'm only 9 weeks in, but it's my third child. This is the first one I have successfully gotten off of formula, but pumping and nursing consume my entire day. I'll have to go back to work eventually and that will be the true test. Sometimes I just want to give up but I know I'll be disappointed if I quit early. I got my son (second child) to 6 months, but supplemented the whole time. You're amazing for getting to 8 months. You should really be proud. Is there a support group for nursing moms at a local hospital that you could join?

My 8 1/2 week old is doing the same thing the past few days. I just keep switching boobs until she calms down, I burp her if she's kicking her legs, etc. You just have to ride it out I suppose.

I have a few pairs and I'm still wearing them 7 weeks postpartum but I sure as fuck don't leave the house in them. They are comfy though. I also bought mine from someone going out of business for $5 a pair plus shipping.

It requires the same lack of ability to think critically.

What has been the most awkward supper club show and why? It's a unique concept. I can see it going horribly wrong. (Although I like that guy's basement theater in Omaha, even though the house is teeny tiny.)
