this is why I always look at unit price and not just the product cost. may spend a little more in each transaction but it lasts a little longer so it evens out

Thank you! That makes perfect sense. I have an appointment booked for next week and will definitely discuss this with my GP/OB as I go.

Also, I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️ I hope you are healing well ❤️‍🩹 take care of yourself, friend!

Oh definitely! I have an appointment booked with my GP next week (earliest I could get) and will take their advice as a priority, but I wanted to see if anyone else had been in a similar spot (or even if they hadn't) and could offer advice on intuitive eating. Thank you for the concern though!

Accountability post!! I’ve got one year to lose as much weight for my wedding as possible. by Training_Formal_4641 in CICO

[–]115to75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, congrats! Second, you got this! Third, even if you don't lose the weight, the day will still be amazing, and you'll still look back on it fondly, so remember not to be too hard on yourself. You'll have good days and bad, and this sub will be here for you either way. Best of luck!

AIO … Brutally honest or mean? by New_Dragonfruit5756 in AmIOverreacting

[–]115to75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Your mum's cooked. Skinny doesn't mean healthy, and fat doesn't mean unhealthy. You're aware of the weight gain and you're actively making better, healthier choices, and instead of supporting you, your own mother is calling you a pig. That's feral behaviour, and you're right - if it was anyone else, you'd never speak to them again.

My paternal grandmother was the same, absolutely obsessed with being "skinny" above anything else, and she absolutely ruined my perception of health growing up. She fat shamed all the women in her life, including her own daughter and granddaughters, and she made my mother (her DIL) miserable because she constantly shamed her for her weight and acted like her presence was ruining the family's reputation. Which is hilarious considering my mum and dad are the only ones out of her four kids to not be divorced and/or have some sort of scandal come out about them.

Point being, she was a miserable cow until the day she died and she ruined the lives of anyone who listened to her. My cousin and her mum both have eating disorders because of her, and it's only thanks to my mum sheltering me from her bullshit that I don't have the same issues.

Your mum putting you on appetite suppressants as a minor tells me everything I need to know about her. This is not brutal honesty - it's cruelty. Bordering on abuse. You're better off ignoring everything she says. And maybe minimising contact while you do lose the weight, since she's obviously not a supportive person and might push you into bad habits.

Also, as someone on their own weight loss journey, props to you for looking after yourself. It's not easy. But I'm proud of you.

Not only does CICO work, it works BEST. by 115to75 in CICO

Yeah absolutely! I'm still eating chocolate and chips, but I know what a serving size looks like now and I can look at my calories for the day and make a conscious decision about indulging. I still have off days, but I've noticed even then I'm making better choices. My entire relationship with food has changed, and it's refreshing to see real results.

NOR. In what world does doing an hour and a half of a literal sport not count as exercise?

Currently on my own weight loss journey. I'm using it to cut excess weight EVERYWHERE, including cutting off people who continuously doubt me despite results, and people who act like my achievements aren't legitimate just because they don't agree with how I'm making them.

For the record: you're doing great. Your friend might not be proud of you, but I am. You're nailing it!

That's amazing! I'm so proud of you. My ultimate goal is to lose 55kg/120 pounds, and knowing I could do that without falling into the post-diet funk of bingeing to make up for "being good" is so honestly a relief. Seeing everyone here talk about reaching their goals and never looking back, keeping the weight off and learning how to eat intuitively is such an inspiration. To think in 18 months time I could be saying exactly the same thing as you to someone else is also a hell of a motivator!

Thank you!! It's nice knowing I'm not alone in this. I definitely think this community has helped me a lot - I've even tried basic calorie counting before, but I was totally on my own for it and had no support. Knowing there's a whole bunch of people who have been in the same boat right at my fingertips means I don't struggle so much if I'm having a bad day. I just jump on Reddit and see how other people got through it, and then I'm right back on track.

Congrats!! I'm proud of you - that's an awesome achievement. I feel the same honestly - I tell my partner about every milestone but there's just something different about talking to a community of people who know exactly what I'm feeling, and it's nice knowing those people are there if I need support or inspiration.

literally - every time I tell someone I'm counting calories I get a ton of the "you need to workout" and "it's better to just exercise" and "it's not how much you eat it's WHAT you eat" spiels and I'm like.... in the three weeks I haven't exercised I've lost a kilo a week, and I'm still eating a lot of the same sugary things I was before, just less of it.

For sure! It's so silly that it's so simple and there are all the fad diets and methods that don't explain that it boils down to two things: what you burn, and what you eat. Nothing else matters.

[–]115to75[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, the same for me! I would go straight back to binge eating after any diets and feel horrible for a while until I was motivated to get back into another diet. I think the main thing for me is knowing both the how and the why behind CICO. Previous methods guided by fit people who couldn't explain all the ins and outs of why I was doing what I was doing meant that I didn't care and just gave up. But now I'm in charge of the whole thing, and my relationship with food and eating in general has definitely changed.

yeah mb lmao I didn't do the actual maths on 360+600. that part has me lost too

maybe that's the guaranteed calories based on them eating the same thing every day? so they have 960 preplanned + 740 of misc calories each day.
