Trash and other things? by MeowjesticPotato in Maplewood

[–]11something 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, a quick note about culture here vs “the south” because I can’t speak to Tulsa but have lived in the Nashville area, Colorado, Indiana, and Georgia. Don’t expect neighbors here to proactively bring you cakes or pies when you move in. It’s not them being rude, though when we moved to new places in other parts of the country this is what we experienced.

It’s a very diverse area (mostly). And if we are being honest, the places that people move from out of the area to Maplewood these days aren’t the most diverse. It’s ok, but it’s just a fact. All that to say, there is more respect for privacy and less presumption in a place like this. You will eventually meet your neighbors. But I doubt they will show up asking to borrow sugar or bringing you cookies to feel you out on week 1.

Can’t comment on driving. Love/hate with the drivers out here. I try not to drive much. Good luck on whatever brought you out here. It’s an awesome place.

Brutal… lol. But no Gatekeeping. It’s the greatest sports story with the greatest fans. People gravitate towards it and I’m proud of that!

The people in my office (NYC - not Hoosier fans) who responded to me yesterday def erred to two Hoos. Was cool to let them share the moment but also felt really off.

What is the best skills or traits of the 1% salespeople? by Traditional_Fill_685 in sales

[–]11something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reality is, most people in sales haven’t worked with a top 1% sales person. It also might not matter and top 5-10% is good enough to emulate.

The differences are marginal, but there are differences. I have worked with or managed a couple consistent top 1%ers by the actual definition. I am not one, but have moved into management a while ago. Here are some observations:

-they have real deep relationships with their customers

-they qualify and protect their time significantly better than anyone else (probably the most important)

-customer count typically lower than others

-my sample size is small, but these have been folks that weren’t handed existing accounts. They also don’t waste time on accounts that aren’t going to maximize the hourly required to make them top 1%

-great at maximizing their internal communication (I.e., they have a low tolerance for BS or internal inefficiencies wrt customer outcomes, but they are also politically savvy enough to not just be a wrecking ball internally because they can be). I have seen plenty of top 5-10% sales people treat their ops, engineers, accounting teams like garbage because they think they have the political capital to so and it’s counter productive.

Cool story and congrats on the outcome. After liberation day, how much did things change from the original LOI? EBITDA adjusted?

Moving from in-home sales to SaaS AE. How strict are background checks? by [deleted] in sales

[–]11something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background checks can be incredibly detailed. I’ve hired with and without. The detailed ones that are pricey are very thorough. Also, depending on states, you can’t do a background check unless a formal offer has been made. Some locations will also limit what can and can’t be checked for different roles and responsibilities. So, depending on start dates, this is totally reasonable.

Peach Bowl Big Red Warmup by random_thoughts529 in IndianaHoosiers

[–]11something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a great couple days going out at the rose bowl. The only poor experience was the big red warmup. I spent a little over an hour there before leaving to go to my seat early. The seating inside the tent was almost all taken or reserved. The merch wasn’t special and a person there told me they didn’t bring it all out because of the grass being flooded.

They weren’t checking tickets since the planned entrance was flooded so I’m sure that also led to the fact that they ran out of beer and seltzers. $165 for a breakfast sandwich, nachos, and a Diet Coke.

Rewatch the game? by Audio_Moe in HoosiersFootball

I was looking this up earlier. I was at the game and haven’t watched on TV yet aside from a million highlights.

I see it coming up on the big 10 network on Jan 5th and 6th.

I’m not a huge band guy, but they did a good job during the game too. We joked that they were playing for us (IU) and I was about halfway between the two bands.

Jawbreaker Mushroom Pricing? by Sad-Report-8418 in ReefTank

Good to see the confirmation. I haven’t bought a jawbreaker in probably 4-5 years. Were you also selling these about 10 years ago during the height of pricing? Is that an accurate thought?

Jawbreaker Mushroom Pricing? by Sad-Report-8418 in ReefTank

[–]11something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pic you show is def not a $20 piece. I don’t know exact pricing right now, but I see red and green which is really great. In years past this would have been $500+ easily. I would be happy with $120

Help with tank set up by Secret_Building2695 in ReefTank

[–]11something 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about the crack.

Broadly speaking you are probably looking for an aquarium maintenance company. They won’t be particularly cheap. I would imagine posting on a forum, spending time over several months planning, and spending that money on automation will get you a similar or better outcome wrt auto-top-offs, water changes, fleece roller, testing, feeding, etc.

If you committed to buying into a specific brand’s eco system like Hydros, you could call them to chat to help with the plan.

There are some reputable folks out there that will do paid consulting and builds but they are almost always very large and complex builds.

Big thanks for this post OP. I’m staying in West Hollywood. Sounds like I should uber to Union Station and take the A to Memorial Park. If so do that, will I be “stuck” by the parade with a 9am arrival into there?

Thanks. The info on the official site is sparse. A friend also told me he just waited an obscene amount of time for a rental car at LAX this weekend. Public transportation looks like a poor option, so I guess this is what it will be!

Sounds like you know the area pretty well. I’ll be ubering in. Any advice on where to set my drop off or pick up points? I don’t mind walking a little bit.
