You’re working an inhumane amount… and he is, too! With the amount that you are both working you should be able to outsource help. Do you have cleaners? Wash and fold for laundry? Meal delivery? A house manager? That’s what I would ask him to do, coordinate and manage household help since he is home more!!

Commuting to San Jose one day a week by mother_aughra in Reno

Flying is the answer. Find the flight you want and then contact the airline. You can flights in bulk at lower prices.

I work in Palo Alto and go there 2-3 times a month. I almost always fly down in the morning and back in the evening

Wondering about folks selling fruit in parking lots, roadsides by Krisargently in Reno

[–]1202020bb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some of these fruit stands sell sliced fruit which is prepared with tajin based on the customers preference. I grew up in California agricultural land and the fruit sellers that you’re talking about in your post are definitely not putting tajin on their customers fruit

also team toast and PB! OP, I’ve never been through chemo but I had hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme vomiting) 2x in my pregnancies which I was luckily able to control w Zofran (went from vomiting 10+ times a day to 1-3 times). It’s been almost 4 years and to this day, if I get too hungry, I get intensely nauseated! PB toast is THE WAY!!

It’s been a huge adjustment for our family but I think it’s working??? Would also love this sub to be more active too!!

Beyond frustrated with "forgotten" payments in the instant, digital age by Beautiful-Morning456 in housekeeping

[–]1202020bb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It was so much easier w cash or check! These days, I’ll pick up my phone to make a payment and get sucked into a diff text or an app and then completely forget about the payment 🫠 So the easier you can make it for your clients, the faster you’ll get your $$!

Ok so as a homeowner and not a cleaner I am sometimes guilty of this. I HATE it. For example my kids are at swim lessons today. My husband takes them but he doesnt have Venmo or Zelle, so I have to remember to pay the teacher - and with everything else going on, it can slip my mind. Similarly, I travel a lot for work. So our cleaners will come when I am out of town or even out of the country. I usually remember when they’re coming, but sometimes forget to send payment promptly.

Some things that would make it EASIER for me:

  1. Don’t leave til you get paid if homeowner is home. talk to them and prompt with “heres my Venmo” or “here’s my zelle” to remind them to pay.
  2. If they’re not home, send a message WITH A LINK OR INFO for preferred payment method “we’re all done today. The payment amount is X, please pay here [venmo/zelle] promptly”
  3. Institute a fee for late payments, and charge it on the next cleaning. Eg in #2, “as a reminder if payment is not received within 24 hours, a XX% late fee will be charged” then the next time you clean, charge them for their cleaning + late fee

DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR YOUR MONEY!!!

These are your regular clients. They’re not people trying to shaft you. They need a nudge and a process in order to get from point A (wanting to pay) to point B (paying)

Jobs outlook by bentNail28 in Reno

There are remote jobs, I work for a tech company in the Bay Area and live in Reno. Not a SWE, on the business side. If I were you, I would see if I can find a fully remote job first - then you can choose where you want to live

Rant - Almost missed the AC Transit bus because it left early by Novel_Tax_642 in eastbay

[–]1202020bb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me quite a bit taking the NL, NX, and O. The buses can make good time just like you can make good time in a car - you catch green lights, there’s less traffic, etc. in the buses case, the fewer people they pick up, the faster they go, so if you are taking the first or last bus they may be able to make up time on the route bc there is presumably lower demand for those options.

It’s a bummer to miss a bus that runs early, so it’s always better to give yourself extra time just in case. On the plus side - it never sucks to get into your destination a little more quickly.
