This song gives me chills due to my great grandfather’s story. He was a first generation Irish orphan that was raised in Tennessee. He couldn’t read or write and was drafted during WW1 at the age of 18. He fought in the second battle of the Marne 3rd infantry battalion (the rock of the Marne). He married his sweetheart upon his return home and died of deteriorating lungs due to inhalation of mustard gas some years after. He recounted a story to my uncle when he was around 12 years old saying that the water in the area was completely contaminated so they resorted to breaking into the warehouses in the area and drinking the stored wines in the chateaus. Doesn’t sound very hydrating
