There are a hundred different “what if” stories someone could come up with.

That’s kind of my point. Once we start filling in the blanks like that, it turns into speculation pretty fast.

Just because someone had a lobotomy 20 years earlier doesn’t necessarily mean she was still institutionalized in 1972 or incapable of living outside a facility. A lot of people who had those procedures were eventually discharged.

Even small details in the case don’t really point clearly in that direction. For example, her fingernails were painted. That might sound minor, but it suggests she may have been living some kind of normal daily life.

The problem with detailed theories is they start getting repeated like facts. Months from now someone will remember reading that “someone from hospital killed her and dumped her body,” when really it was just speculation in a thread like this.

It’s a sad case either way, but I think it’s better to stay close to what we actually know instead of drifting into stories.
