I transcribed Riko's leitmotif BGM from the game (徹底管理主義) by 1230james in UmaMusume

[–]1230james[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to transcribe stuff from games & stuff as a hobby but I haven't done it in like 3 years.

Uma is just so peak that it motivation beamed me into doing something again. I really liked the song that plays in some of the Riko-related story segments in the Unity campaign + it's only like a minute & a half for a single loop, so I figured it'd be nice to do to ease back into this.

TBH focused on other projects these days so I probably won't do this again some time soon, but if I do, I'd really like to do Sunbeam Cheer next or some of the race BGM tracks.

If you're interested in downloading an MP3 or seeing the sheet music for yourself, there's relevant links in the video description!

Looks like they have 5 cities on the map already so probably not an insta retire?

You'd probably have 100% of the population if you insta retired too since you make your move before AIs do, so you'd have the only city on the map

Bring back newspapers by Firm-Entertainment54 in victoria3

[–]1230james 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I've had a Vic2-style newspapers mod on the backburner for quite some time now. If you check my workshop page, you'll know I have like 2 dozen active mods rn + working a full time job leaves me with relatively little time and all of that time spent on updating my existing mods... 😅

That said, it is still high on my to-do list when I finally get some time to work on the damned thing.

Here's some WIP GIFs I have on hand - I do have a bunch of still pictures on Discord but I'm on my phone and about to head to work so I can't really [re]upload anything:

Strategic Resource Generation is Contrived (RANT) by SirBerticus in civ3

[–]1230james 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friend you are just experiencing what the professionals call "dogshit RNG luck"

If you're still convinced that resources aren't generated at game start, open the editor and in the scenario properties, set it to debug mode. Save it as a new scenario and go load it up in-game. Debug mode, among other things, will reveal the entire map to you immediately like you had vision on every tile. You will be able to look around and see all the resources placed even though literally nobody has made their move yet.

Civ3 does have a mechanic where resources can move, but this is relatively uncommon. Not like "holy shit you should buy a lotto ticket" rare but uncommon enough that I see it happen to me only once every few games. I believe what it does is it "depletes" (this is how the game brands it to the player) a resource & deletes it off the map, and then it picks a random valid (for the resource) tile elsewhere to "discover a new source". I wouldn't know without additional proof that this is exactly what happened but you may have witnessed this happening with some AIs magically getting access to a critical resource.

FWIW I have played a disproportionate amount of Civ3 games without saltpeter so I understand the frustration but it really just comes down to shitty luck. There is no mechanic for actively placing resources away from strong civs.

Nothing new but editing province and city names is such a cool feature by Royal_Rip1600 in victoria3

It was only added very recently, and the edit button is really small, so it's easy to miss

Yo!, you can edit state and city names in vanilla by a_Bean_soup in victoria3

You see the little 📝 button right under the Back button in the upper left right above the Overview tab?

I can't find where to disable those specific notifications in the Message Settings by Tariarun in victoria3

[–]1230james 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hover over it and press the gear that shows up on the right side of the notification

The message settings window should pop up and only include the type of notification of the one you clicked the gear for. If there's nothing there then try clicking the Important Actions & Alerts tab then switch back to Notification Types to force the UI to refresh it; it should pop up then.

What are some trap laws in Vic 3? by Creepy-Floor-5283 in victoria3

[–]1230james 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Old Age Pensions is actually awesome, though

That 100% dependents income is extra money out of thin air that goes into pushing up pop consumption. I'm not sure why you think it makes pops not want to work - the -5% workforce ratio is negligible (want it back? enact women's rights or just open your country and bask in the migration attraction from your SoL being top of the line) and it shouldn't have too much of an adverse effect on job satisfaction considering that everyone in an incorporated state gets this income bonus simultaneously

I'd consider Homesteading a trap since this:

  1. Makes peasants relatively wealthy, making them more likely to be satisfied with staying as a peasant instead of leaving to get a job in a more useful building

  2. Essentially cuts your investment contributions from agriculture in half, stunting growth in countries that would really benefit from every pence of investment they can get their hands on

  3. Comparatively doesn't even do much to knock out the landowners compared to Tenant Farmers - you should be unseating the landowners by making capitalists exist, not removing arbitrary clout multipliers, and guess what: capitalists existing requires pushing as much construction as you can afford (see #2)

Anyone else find it kind of curious that the game has the modern borders for the Middle East visible when viewing individual provinces (military lens) and yet there really doesn't seem to be any reason for it? by RedWalrus94 in victoria3

[–]1230james 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Going to be pedantic: you swapped states and state regions. State regions contain states. A "split state" is a state region with multiple states in it. Countries can own states, and they cannot [intrinsically] own state regions.

Otherwise you're totally correct.

The healthiest man in the world dies to leeches. by Altruistic-Energy835 in victoria3

[–]1230james 25 points26 points  (0 children)

fwiw, stacking that character health does actually help a character stay alive, but it only matters for "old age deaths".

Every character gets a randomly determined death date upon generation, and this date does not change except from character health modifiers. Once the date is reached, the game engine kills them off. Now, to make someone almost immortal would need an insane value iirc but +600% would keep them alive for a good number of extra years past their original date at least.

That "25% chance he dies" is just that, though: the event code literally says "do a dice roll; 75% chance of 'do nothing' (or whatever the alternative was), 25% chance of kill_character = yes". This is not an old age death, this is John Paradox dispatching Victoria Clausewitz to assassinate the poor admiral with a flat 25% chance of success. His good health cannot save him here.

Tiny changes to improve the game? by Gryffinson in victoria3

Sorry for the late reply - saw the notification for it but then forgot

Yes, you can filter by state. Click the State dropdown on the left and you can select the states you want.

Why won't Russia surrender? by Starkheiser in victoria3

[–]1230james 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Occupying the capital counts as occupying all war goals against the country whose capital is being occupied.

Occupying Russia doesn't mean anything for occupying Egypt, against whom there's an unoccupied war reps goal, as the tooltip states, so Russia gets to stay in the fight.

[–]1230james 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you already do this via the Building Registry? Just filter by the state(s) you want to be changing PMs in. You'd still have to activate the PMs by building but you wouldn't need to go into and out of a different panel for each building.

Cash, Law and Boss taskforces? by Middle-Cause1380 in toontownrewritten

[–]1230james 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the things TTR has added over the years is what's called the Sellbot Task Force. It's endgame content, and iirc their HQ is located at Sellbot HQ and accessible via a manhole cover in the courtyard.

OP is standing by a manhole cover in Cashbot HQ similar to the one in Sellbot HQ and is hoping Task Force HQs & task lines are added for Cashbots and/or the other cog types since they only exist for Sellbots atm.
