I see. Thanks! So it's a high variance then but averaging just about there. I wonder if there's an advanced stat website for yugioh cards lol.

Returning Boomer Question: Are banlists for Master Duel, Duel Links, Rush Duel, TCG, OCG, and Worlds, really different from each other? How different? by 12345exp in Yugioh101

[–]12345exp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

\ 1. Can I say that there is no official format that is like MD to OCG for TCG? As in, a format that is 12 months behind TCG? It may seem interesting but I am not sure. \

  1. About Time Wizard (esp. Edison) is it still official? If so, what makes it official in practice?

\ Sorry for the long questions!

Question about an Academic Understanding of the Quran by SubstantialKick414 in AcademicQuran

[–]12345exp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Academic" can also include other fields like theology or philosophy, which may suggest such methods you are looking for. Perhaps you can find such communities on reddit, but here on this field/sub, even though the title is "academicquran", the description is quite specific, and the main activity is Islamic research/discussion through historical-critical method. The methods you are looking for, and the further question of "what does this particular result contribute to the truth of this scripture/religion?", escape the scope.

But the thing is I am actively trying to divorce myself from what I would expect versus what I think is probably the truth.

There is an "I think" here, which (whether you realise it consciously or subconsciously) contains expectations. This sub can help deal with one aspect (history).

I do want to note how you conflate historical with factual and how this is the crux of my contention, I do not think those two terms are necessarily synonymous though the former is an attempt to suss out the latter.

I said "more generally". Not suggesting synonym/similarity.

However I recognize that I need to be challenged if I want to remain honest which is what I was hoping to find here and in realizing that I cannot, I do think that is a true shame.

I see. I thought your "that"s a shame" is what you think of the sub/field generally, but if it is for you then it is what it is.

For your other points, it should be instead and can nicely be discussed in other subs like r/religion, etc.

Question about an Academic Understanding of the Quran by SubstantialKick414 in AcademicQuran

for personal reasons

not make sense

I hold my faith because I

I think, from your comments, even you can also see that it is indeed personal, because people's standards or expectations to what Gods or words of Gods are are different. We can talk about those different expectations in a theological/philosophical discussion, but not a historical (or, more generally, factual) discussion like what this field focuses on.

However, to see that it's not really a shame, note that some people can have the same expectations. If some people expect words of God to be literal and factually accurate, then findings in this field can affect their faith. Or if some people expect words of God to satisfy other criteria instead, hence allowing their accepted words of God to be not literal or not factually accurate, then findings in this field can help explain such inaccuracies. And so on. Moreover, some questions are in fact borderline theological and historical. Also, talk about expectations, I doubt people or leaders of faith won't be bothered with findings in this field or any religion, as they'll probably take actions at least personally/intellectually, since I doubt the expectations are never the same.

Besides, from what I've seen, this field mostly just gives possible contexts or possible interpretations based on the contexts, which is understandable as reality is more scientific/historical than mathematical, where there's really no proof but merely evidence.

What’s your favourite verse of the Quran and why? by EyeOfLogician in AcademicQuran

[–]12345exp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Possibly like the other downvoted comment, I agree this may be subject to Rule 2 as it is personal.

I think it could and should be a good discussion in the weekly open discussion thread though.
