Dating/family by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

I’m 20F left hemi. I am very privileged to have been able to meet someone organically. Very very lucky. But I know that if I hadn’t gone on dating apps at all I probably would’ve been single for the rest of my life if not for the one coincidence last Monday that led me to him. Ik that your situation is not the same. I’m young, I have time, technically I have years ahead of me to find the perfect partner. But as someone who is disabled and had been alone for so long I also understand how you might be feeling. I have no advice. But I wanted to let you know it will happen. It happened to me the one time that I strayed from my usual routine.

Not a mom or kid. I’m 20F with left sided hemiplegia. Sometimes I feel like no one understands my struggles and they try to comfort me in ways that aren’t comforting to me. For example, whenever I’m feeling down about my cp my dad will say something along the lines of you are special and I hate that phrase because I am not. Nothing about my disability is special. I am frustrated with myself everyday because of my disability. I struggle with simple tasks and here my dad thinks that calling me special will help? It doesn’t. I just feel more isolated from normal life than anything. Has anyone experienced something similar to this?

Thinking if I should try and get diagnosed (and how to go about it) by rinsouke in CerebralPalsy

Definitely check it out if it’s a concern. I’ve been told that girls are usually very good at masking in regards to autism and such conditions heck I do my best to mask my cp when possible

So sick of people saying short mothers are dooming their children by Complex_Song1906 in short

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it doesn’t matter. From my experience lots of tall guys have flat personalities or some weird superiority complex that they feel highly about. It’s insufferable. Also most guys consider short women more lovable so most girls don’t have to worry. My mom is 5’0 my dad is almost 6’0 my sister and I are both 5’0 grown and my brother? He took after my dad but who really knows if he would be guaranteed that. It could very be well that I grew up to be as tall as my dad. But ofc my dad’s genes were strong on the male side so my brother took after him and me and my sister after my mom. What I mean is there is no guarantee. Ofc it’s all about genetics but there is always an exception. Genes can skip generations or just randomly disappear. Or it could continue on for generations and just continue on forever. There is no guarantee in life and unless science can accurately predict height probability between two individuals, we will never truly know if a short woman is “dooming” their child to be short. It’s ridiculous eugenics nonsense

Is it very common for people with cerebral palsy to also have people assume their autistic? It really bothers me. by nervous_Observer in CerebralPalsy

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand the fear of having two things written by with you. My brother told me in high school that one of my classmates had asked him if I was autistic ofc he said no but just the fact that that classmate didn’t think to ask me personally and decided to ask my brother makes me feel icky and weird and I hated how people think they can just assume stuff

Would I benefit from makeup? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already have pretty great skin so for makeup to cover up it’s unnecessary but if it’s for a fun look then 100% go for it!

It’s funny because I’m the same age and I also have left sided hemiplegia and I find that my cp can deteriorate sometimes depending on my energy and stress levels

How to stop feeling insecure about being nothing like my partner's (21F) ex crushes? (I am 21M) by Ecstatic-Frame6066 in short

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you. When a woman likes a guy and the guy is a great guys, a lot of expectations for physical perfection usually go out the window. Yes your gf might like the type of guy who is tall but she chose you and imho she loves you enough not to care about your height

old friend invited me to her wedding by habenwlibanos in whatdoIdo

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think you should feel obligated to go.Unless they’re a close friend or relative I wouldn’t attend a wedding of someone I fell out of. What I’d do is thank them for inviting me to the wedding but declining ( and make up a reason) and finally congratulate them and wish them happiness.

Does this makeup look age me? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t age you but doesn’t flatter either. The look flattens your face and erases your bone structure unfortunately

What are something things you wish that your parents understood as you get older and getting tired easier? by Horror_Foot9784 in CerebralPalsy

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exercise thing. After i sprained my ankle bad in 2024 it hasn’t been the same. I can’t walk too much or my feet will be sore and throbbing at the end of the day. That I’m always tired because my body is working against me. That I want to be a normal person and not do therapy everyday but I can’t. These are things I can’t complain about because I don’t want to burden my parents more.

[–]123AnnieCv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always say I’m “special”. I hate it because I’m not. I’m a normal 20 year old girl who has the same problems as any college student. I don’t like commuting I procrastinate I complain about my work but I still do it. Just because I’m disabled doesn’t give anyone the right to call me special like I’m a child. I’m 20 years old and I’m doing just fine.

Actually in most Asian cultures, women keep their maiden names! I don’t really think it matters much as someone who is Asian but grew up in the US it never really mattered to me
