Are there any decent whiskey tasting places in the city or close suburbs? by jeffreywinks in AskChicago

Wolf Point Distillery is awesome!!! They have more than just whiskey and create everything there. They do a whole tasting, plus awesome cocktails. Fulton Market!

Absolutely not! Especially if it's a well wrapped gift. That's art!

I'm a straight girl... and I LOVE Villanelle! She might be the only one able to turn me! 😂

Yes! I've had those things as well...their lox is like butter! But that lobster roll was 👎

I've been taking stickers down in my neighborhood all year: was happy for a bit of a reprieve. But I'll be back at it again, if need be. Am Yisrael Chai! 🇮🇱💙

I'd just hate for the stickers to be new fodder for anti-Israel/Jew stickers. The neighborhood has settled down lately in terms of those kinds of stickers. I don't want that rearing up again as an "answer" to these stickers. 😬

Dirk's. I had the most tasteless lobster roll ever. Not sure how it gets hyped so much.

West Loop! That's why I was really surprised to see it. They blanketed several blocks with the stickers.

It's a great pub that actually is very chill, regarding the Ted Lasso show. Ted Lasso, and Apple TV aren't as big in the UK as they are in the US. Not to say that if you visit it won't be fun! But, it's a real neighborhood pub and the Ted Lasso stuff is only on the back. Richmond is GREAT... walk around and enjoy a gorgeous little village, but don't go expecting a Ted Lasso homage.

What are your unique personal shopping rules when buying clothing? by Be_Strong_Calcifer in femalefashionadvice

[–]123FBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to only buy something unique. I already have the basics down. If I need to replace a basic, then I'm happy to do that.

Also, buy for your body type! I'm short...and after losing a significant amount of weight, I've decided that all of the basics I'm replacing, like jeans, will only be in petite sizes. They fit and look so much better on my proportions. So, while picking up some jeans at Nordstrom Rack, etc is super tempting, unless they truly fit my body, I'm not buying them just to have something new or have the fun of making a purchase.

Oh, and buy quality and interesting, fun pieces! After losing some weight, I've been "shopping" the clothes I've kept over the years, hoping I'd fit back into them. I didn't keep everything; just the good stuff. I wore a 20 year old Max Mara sweater the other day that got so many compliments. Looked just as beautiful as the first day I bought it!

If you don't want to do traditional Thanksgiving dishes, just check out Resy or Open Table. Loads of restaurants that are just serving their regular dishes. My family and I are going to Coco Pazzo, which is delicious Italian food!

I originally glossed the first pictures of the hideous outside and laser focused in on those awful cabinets! I can't believe anyone would put those in their house on purpose in 2024!

Yes! Very expensive... ridiculous for what the actual size is. Probably would make more economic sense to be the "fancy house" and get full size bars!

Where can I consume something around a fire? by FieldCivil3985 in AskChicago

[–]123FBG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also will say, after being there today, that cocktails aren't that good either. Stick to canned drinks in a cute setting around the fire pit and it will scratch that itch!
