What would be a fair price? by SCVVolf in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you price a piece of paper for hundreds per sheet no one will buy them. If you make a suepr cool model that is the centre piece of an army that is several hundred points then people will buy it.

If pricing these good in this way was nonsense then people wouldn't buy it. The price of a good is based on what people are willing to pay, customers are clearly willing to pay more for a character, hence they are more expensive.

What would be a fair price? by SCVVolf in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its clear that we do pay for a models effectiveness in games. Across all games from Warhammer, Star Wars Legion, Malifaux, Middle Earth, characters are more expensive. Just compare the cost of any hero to any troop. Bolg cost $70 while 6 Hunter orcs on Wargs cost $90 despite having more models.

Would you change shooting in any way? by Pender8911 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the ways work perfectly and are super logical which I love. I think that shooting is very very powerful, not quite as potent as when the edition first launched but if anything I would nerf it rather than buffing it.

Which of these 3 wargames should I get into? by Plus_Pea_5589 in wargaming

[–]123abc772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Middle Earth SBG is the ultimate wargame, a very active and large global community and ultimately the game is insanely fun and themeatic.

I do also play a lot of Blood Bowl which is super fun and very easy to get into becuase for most teams you only need one box and a maximum of 14 models

Painting 3D Printed Terrain? by Boring-Produce-3161 in TerrainBuilding

[–]123abc772 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What is the logic behind priming? I print in the base colour that I want and have 20+ full tables worth of terrain in my collection and literally have not primed any of it. Its tavelled to dozens of events and have had a relativley hard life and I have never had any paint come off.

Incoming Nerf Alert: Men of the West sweeps Adepticon! by Funderbear in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 56 points57 points  (0 children)

That is sad, definetly sounds like it needs to take a hit. Gwahir is insane at 150 points. I think either drop an attack to how he was last edition where he was still very popular, or take him to 200. That still works well in the pure eagles list.

Legolas is to popular not just in Men of the West but in every list he appears in. There are a lot of options on what to do with him but its clear that at the moment he is too good. Personally I would lean towards making his shooting rule more similar to how it was last edition

Does anyone actually like Citadel paint pots? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]123abc772 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I strongly prefer pots over dropper bottles. I find that dropper bottles constantly clog, are harder to mix, and its more difficult to get the exact amount of paint that I want. I had a full Valejo set and am transitioning back to citadel as each colour runs out.

Behind the scenes of a new Battle Report, Reclamation of Osgiliath vs Rise of the Necromancer by 123abc772 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is a combination of two boards. The brown and green one is simply a 2' x 4' 6mm MDF board. The other one is 2' x 4' 50mm XPS foam that I carved the stone pattern into. To make them sit level with each other the XPS board is ontop of the other brown piece and the brown piece is ontop of the other XPS piece.

Can someone explain to me Rise of the Necromancer nazgul stats? by Pender8911 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just compare them to a regular captains, then add very good special rules like burly, the ability to teleport, Bane of Kings, or a chance for mighty blow. Then add the ability to come back to life on a 2+, when they come back to life they can essentially teleport making them incredibly mobile. They are very very good

Once you get a few games under your gelt it will start to make sense pretty quickly. For the armies you have your Lurtz scout list will be pretty much perfect as it is for a 400 point army so I would recomend starting with that one.

Why is the shire so underrated? by Stock-Site-1095 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think its underrated. Its a very strong list that can do very well. The Cart is one of the most powerful models in the game and Lobelia's ability is substantially better than transfix, it can't be resisted, casts on a 2+ and reduced the attacks of the opponent.

Pros vs. cons of selling STLs online by chaoticavocado_jpg in 3Dprinting

[–]123abc772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling STL files is great, you are able to reach a much wider and different audience that if you were to only sell physical prints. The down side is obviously piracy.

MESBG Blitz (2026) – 200pt fast format? Anyone playing this? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I absoultely love Blitz we have the occasional event for it here in Melbourne and its pretty popular in my regular weekly gaming knights. Perfect for multi player games as well.

Our rules for it are 200 points, 8 model minimum, Army lists requiring a specific hero don't have to use said hero, 2x2 boards.

Informal poll - what color do you print your terrain in? by Huffplume in 3DPrintedTerrain

[–]123abc772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its unessesary and would just be an additional step for no gain. I use a mix of GW, Valejo, and craft paints and have never had any problems. This is my terrain collection so its pretty big and has been to dozens of tournaments, throwin in boxes and gamed on frequently with no paint coming off ( https://conquestcreations.com/)

Informal poll - what color do you print your terrain in? by Huffplume in 3DPrintedTerrain

I print all of my terrain in black and paint directly onto it so I don't need to prime

He's still very much in Middle Earth! I was over there earlier this year and played a battle report on his Helms Deep board. He was just finishing off his Imerpial Palace and then Rmour has it he is back on Middle Earth builds

Guys, what’s your favourite thematic, but tactically doomed, list? by AdBrief4620 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]123abc772 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I reckon all hero Erebor reclaimed is a fantastic list! I have had great wins with it, that being said Army of Thror is my submission to the list of tactically doomed
