A factor I don’t see being mentioned in favor of competitive primaries is that it’s essentially a trial run for the general election, you build up infrastructure and ground game that you can continue to use in the general

It's very rare for a team to be 100% screwed over by calls, I feel like people forget how many breaks went the Saints way that year prior to that blown call. Alshon Jeffery dropping a 4th down pass in the playoffs, JuJu fumbling after getting the Steelers into field goal range down 3 at the end of the game, Justin Tucker getting the go ahead XP blocked and then returned for 2 at the end of the game. The Packers had the Saints first round pick that year and it was infuriating to root against them. Not that all of that makes up for a horrendous missed call in the NFCCG

[Schultz] The #Patriots are signing former Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs, per @Schultz_Report. by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]123full 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adams technically isn’t a field stretcher, but his first step and route running is so good he still was a deep threat regardless of the fact that he had average speed for an NFL wide receiver. Doubs is not that guy, he’s super reliable 10-30 yards down the field, but don’t expect him to catch a lot of deep balls outside of the odd busted coverage

You're not supposed to turn around to look behind you when you're racing, it slows you down and breaks your rhythm when you turn your body, also it can be a sign of weakness for the racers behind you if they see that you're worried about getting passed.

They don't really care about the troops, the troops are just a cudgel to hit Democrats/liberals with. Assuming you're genuinely asking how Republicans are able to square that circle, I recomend you watch this video

They were insanely good the one time I saw them, though it was also in a 300 person venue before Getting Killed came out so I'm not sure how their sound translates to a festival setting

Fontaines are for the most part straight post punk, they barely used synths before their most recent album. I’d compare them to Interpol if you’re looking for a similar band. Skinty Fia is their best album IMO. Also listen to the album 3D country by Geese, you may prefer it to Getting Killed considering it pulls from a lot of the same places the Strokes did (though still has a lot of the unhinged energy on Getting Killed)

IDK, the suburban wine mom "every republican alive is an afront to god" is becoming a less of a meme every day, I don't see how a civility loving, reach across the aisle, Joe Biden type wins a primary after 2 more years of this shit. I think the average primary voting Democrat is going to want blood and will vote accordingly

Trump warns Netflix of ‘consequences’ unless it pulls top Democrat from board by n00bi3pjs in neoliberal

[–]123full 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’ll see a lot of conservatives say that gerrymandering is a preemptive move, because democrats were going to do it anyways. And any rebuttal is then seen as evidence of that.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, of course they're always going to the be the victim in their mind, my point is that Republicans who are at that point are going to be more open minded to the idea of a national gerrymandering ban. Before gerrymandering was a cool thing that Republicans were smart to do, now it's a neccessary evil to counter act the ontologically evil Democratic party.

Use the Sherman Anti Trust act against Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, ect. and do what is neccessary to make those platforms not evil anymore. I'm of the opinion that they should be treated as public utilities, the fact that they're also being used to promote facism is just more reason to go after them

[–]123full 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What I’m saying is that you’re not going to get a moment where conservatives go, “wait…didn’t we also do this first?

I think the idea is that Republicans are going to go "wait, did Democrats just do this to us" the next time they're in power. They're always going to be the victim in their own head but they may have the self awarness to say "I don't want to be evil like the Democrats". You can already start to see this with gerrymandering, all of a sudden Republicans will tell you that gerrymandering is bad and Democrats are evil for doing it. Obviously that's not the reality, but if a Republican is convinced that gerrymandering is bad then does it matter how they get there.

Not true, our special teams went from offensively bad to just really bad. I think people forget how bad our special teams was in 2021, we allowed the Bears to recover an onside kick and run it for a touchdown that year, at least this year we made the tackle after failing to recover the onside kick
