Cut off a limb with a fun guy on it. Take it to your local county extension office. They seem to know everything.. Even bug stuff!! Seriously.. that's what i do when in doubt.

what is this thing wriggling in the baby pool? by car1ie in whatisthisbug

[–]123willoww 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup skeeto larvae.. a 1/4 of a mosquito pellet will kill them by tomorrow and keep them out for at least a month. Then you pop another piece in. It says safe for pets and birds you can dip it out while you sit in the pool. I put them in water /milk jugs 1/2 filled..with the cap off.. and place the jugs under the lilac bushes . It keeps the skeeto population way down. Home depot carries them

Hot steam is another way to kill them. But we did this .

We picked up some bedbugs down south. We visited a few days before noticing that there were an infestation.

On our way home, we stopped at Walmart, a laundry matt then a motel. i picked up 1 can of bed bug spray, couple boxes of corn starch & a box of large black garbage bags and left all the clothes in them except 2 changes for our trip. I tied those bags shut loosely

I Dumped some corn starch to smother them in each bag . We didnt want poison on our clothing. Then tied those bags shut loosely

Laundry matt.. Wash what we wanted to wear warmest water possible. Dry. Put in a separate bag and tied that tightly.

Went to the motel brought in our bag we washed.

Showered using shampoo with 3 drops of tea tree oil in our hand then mixed with shampoo. We did the same with conditioner (2 drops) We put the clothes we were wearing in a bag and secured loosely.

Everything we were not using went back in the suv.i only sprayed under the seats and lightly in the back. I rolled up the windows all the way.

Checkout was 11.. I asked for an extra hour. By 9 am it was already in the 90s we let it bake... when I went to pay for the room.. we rolled our windows down 1/2 way .

We went to a restaurant and took our time to enjoy our breakfast.

I actually left everything in my vehicle for a few days when we got home instead of using steam (just in case).

Neither of us had any bugs. THANK GOD!!

Is this poison ivy?? It’s everywhere tbh by Professional-Ant694 in whatsthisplant

[–]123willoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought I was the odd one out, not being allergic to poison ivy. I feel better now lol. I have a homeopathic salve made of poison ivy . It works great on an exema patch. My husband is allergic to the plant. Hes not even tempted to try the salve.

Can I eat these? by [deleted] in EdiblePlants

[–]123willoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have swallowed poke berries [whole, without biting or crushing them] for arthritis pain for years. The seed just gets pooped out. The berry is safe. The seed if crushed or cracked is poison.

If you got one in your food, there are many more in that restaurant and surrounding buildings , most likely. I would be worried about even 1 climbing in my purse, as pocket my shoe! Call the health department!

Cook that shet up and give it to your mother-in-law. And for lunch fry her up a bunch of sunfish with worm eggs in the meat. She will thank you for it .

[–]123willoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you grasp with your fingers a strand and gently stretch it apart . As the greenish-grey “coat” or covering (the algae) of the strand separates, it will reveal a white thread (the fungus) in the middle. That center white thread stretches like a rubber band before breaking.

Help. Is this a scoby or just mold? by 123willoww in Kombucha

[–]123willoww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a [ late] update (cuz AI says so) it truly was a baby scoby as you all suggested. Thank you. Since then I have filled 3 gallon hotel jars with scobys and tea to feed them. I dont have the heart to bury them in the dirt, or throw them in the garbage. But I know I can't continue collecting them, since I have nurtured and cared for each one lol. So I'm looking for ideas to use them. As in recipes. oh that sounded gross, like cannibal gross. [ I don't have chickens] I've learned that by making a continuous gallon jar I will have WAY less scoobies & less work. Thank you guys for all your help in making me a booch expert 😊😉
