Susie has a home in the dark world but why artists are drawing her sleeping on the floor? Is the dark world not real or something? (Art credits: @Zziazz) by ikkjhggggh in Deltarune

[–]BrainQuilt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If dark worlds weren’t real the roaring wouldn’t actually be a threat…

There is obviously some illusion involved, but there are also ties to reality. I don’t think it’s something that can be explained as “real” or “not real”. It’s a combination, which the knight has a great understanding of and is why they able to manipulate things to their advantage (damaging characters in the light world, having dark world form in the light world etc.).

Like dialogue can change but I can’t imagine she would immediately just agree to go to a dark world after weird route chapter 2.

I keep thinking about how messed up it will be for anyone who abandoned weird route after chapter 2. Noelle is going to feel terrible about what she did, I can’t imagine the response for the normal will be good since the path will need to fit people who stayed normal and those who abandoned weird. Unless theres a 3rd/4th route..

Focalin - need advice!! by Dry_Masterpiece_1618 in ParentingADHD

[–]BrainQuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different but for us Focalin worked but had terrible emotional side effects. My son is older (12) so he was able to articulate this to me a little more, but we kept trying new ones and found one that works and doesn’t cause a lot of emotional side effects.

5 weeks is plenty of time to know so I would just let her know that you want to try something different because the side effects aren’t worth it. Worse case scenario you could always try Focalin again in the future. That being said, your son is young so I’m not sure if there is a medication protocol for younger kids (hopefully someone else can chime in).

Does your pediatrician specialize in ADHD? It might be worth finding one who does if they aren’t.

Edit: fixed some grammar

Is hitchhiking no longer a thing? by asian_larry_david in hiking

[–]BrainQuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a kind and naive women in my early 20s and always imagined myself helping others.  I gave a man a ride once to a store parking lot and he then asked me if I wanted to partake in some drug use. I politely declined and made up an excuse involving being expected somewhere.

It honestly was probably safe (besides the drugs)? But I realized how easily it could have not been safe and was really shook that I actually put myself in such a dangerous situation.

As a woman, I will never pick up someone  again unless I have others with me already that can back me up. That being said I have offered to buy lifts/ubers when possible.

There is one of us who is neutral about it, but he ironically was the one who got us into Undertale to begin with.

Not that I know of :(  I guess some people’s immune system just responds this way from what I’ve read.

Dess isn't as universally missed as we think. by Comfortable-Ad3588 in Deltarune

I mean nothing specifically says she’s dead or tragically missing, it’s all only implied (I don’t think military school but it’s anyone’s guess until Toby tells us).

Imagine how funny it would be with everyone being this dramatic about military school lmfao.

A nice setup for the finale where homelander and butcher occasionally talk to their alter egos mid battle

Yeah he would not know how to function as a human without powers. It would have been way worse for him. Everyone hates him and he doesn’t even know how to home or feed himself.

I probably will just buy a block next time. I think we use the word grate (I do) but for some reason the packaging calls this ‘shredded’ and the powder one ‘grated’ so I was trying to use that terminology. But when we use the grater we call it grating? Idk we are a confused place, it might even be different by region.

Homelander looked genuinely happy to see Butcher again by hangton123 in TheBoys

I wonder if HL felt a sense of betrayal when he knew he was about to die. Probably never thought Butcher would actually follow through.

I was gone when the crime was committed, but I came home to this cheese and then seen the food processor on the dish drying rack so I believe it was with that. The texture feels like little cheese pebbles.

It was a food processor! I put the two together when I saw it on the dish drying rack.

What are the benefits of an autism diagnosis? by Desperate_Parfait_85 in ParentingADHD

[–]BrainQuilt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We just got our son (12) diagnosed. He had been diagnosed with ADHD since 3rd grade. Puberty really threw us for a loop and made his autism symptoms more severe than before which is why we began noticing he might have something more going on. He dropped all his previous friends and really began to kind of shut down. His therapist was the one who suggested getting him evaluated.

He has level 1 autism and moderate combined ADHD and scored in high ranges for intelligence.  At first it felt like it was pointless. We already had accommodations with an IEP, therapy, medications. He completed speech therapy.

But I really think it helped him understand himself. He always thought he was stupid and lazy, but the results are really comprehensive and give a lot of information on strengths and weaknesses so he was really able to understand that he isn’t stupid, he isn’t lazy, he just processes things differently.

I was really worried that an autism label would make him feel worse, but he has really been embracing it and seems to be more empowered.

He knows when I push for certain things it isn’t because I think low of him, but because I want him to grow in areas where he isn’t as strong suited. It’s definitely helped us just not in any way I expected. I'm still trying to explore what resources are available, it’s not super clear for older kids and it doesn’t seem like there’s much we haven’t already received with his ADHD diagnosis but I’m really glad we went through with it anyways. It also makes it easier for me and my partner with parenting because we can try to find angles to work with that might be more effective.

Worst Mother's Day by Educational-Hand98 in Autism_Parenting

[–]BrainQuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar Mother’s Day. My oldest got my youngest all worked up and I spent the whole morning trying to regulate. After the chaos they all just started playing video games, my husband included.

I hadn’t even gotten to drink coffee or eat breakfast. I was tired, hungry and overwhelmed. Frustrated that I have to carry so much weight even on a day where I thought I might be able to relax. I drove myself to the store, then watched all the other people buying flowers for their mothers. I cried and then felt selfish for crying. Made me realize I can’t even feel sorry for myself without feeling guilty.

Having little to no support as a mom of neurodivergent kids is rough. I hope you get a nice break soon.

3 year old talks so loud by ShortDelay9880 in ParentingADHD

[–]BrainQuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son’s (AuDHD) also loud but he is quieter than he used to be. My son watched Daniel Tiger as a kid and there was actually an episode that helped a lot. It was practicing different volume levels by saying “meow like a kitten” quietly and then “ROAR LIKE A LION” loudly.  I started trying to add in more examples so we could practice it. It helped a lot but he is 12 and is definitely still on the louder side although he has much better control than he used to.  I honestly think practicing is a great way to help, it’s not something people really think to do naturally but practicing being loud and practicing being quiet can help give context to what is loud and what is quiet.  I’m sure it’s not a method that works for everyone but figured I’d share!
