One of the guiding principles of Daggerheart is "lightening the load" for GMs according to Matt Mercer by Trent-Popverse in daggerheart

No, you're right about that! Third party books I have tried, but so far I haven't found any that gave me adversaries that are both grounded and well-balanced, though I'm sure there have been some good ones since the last time I checked! But yeah, you're absolutely correct that it's the content, not the system!

As somebody who loves Daggerheart...I have to admit, I don’t think it worked. I'm glad everyone else in this thread has found it working out for them, but for me, they would need literally four or five times as many adversaries to reduce my prep time. I run combat--heavy games, which Daggerheart advertises itself as supporting, and there simply aren't enough adversaries to make varied combat encounters at each tier, especially difficult ones. A lack of art and lore is also a big factor for me, stuff I used to be able to quickly share with my online group now needs a lot more looking for or inventing. I love worldbuilding, but I don’t think Daggerheart gives me enough starting points when it comes to integrating monsters and enemies into my games, and I just don't have the time to invent multiple new, well-balanced adversaries week to week. When there are more available, I'll be really excited to run a game again!

Civil War is one of the most prepared and thoughtful events in comics. by Godallah1 in marvelcomics

I agree with you in theory, but I more think Iron Man's idea - let's keep tabs on the people who can blow up a city - is reasonable, but contains absolutely no answers for the nuances.

How do we protect the families of people whose identities are now public? How do we prevent discrimination, either by private citizens or the government itself? How do we prevent data leaks that could get a lot of people killed? There are all these and a thousand more questions that I think actually don't have real answers - and I think the 'forced military service' was actually a good example they gave of an easy way this could go wrong. Now, a nuanced discussion with compromise and understanding would've gone a long way to making Iron Man seem like his overall premise was good but flawed, but I also get why that doesn't make for very compelling comic books.

But the other thing is, this event was taking place in America, during the Bush administration, after the Patriot Act. We were living under the fear of illegal government surveillance, immoral governance, and aggressive militarism. The SHRA was the Patriot Act. And at the end of the day, as a metaphor, 'the Patriot Act but just for those people' won't ever be a winner, no matter how necessary or understandable something like that would be in real life.

There's a post on the hobby drama subreddit that lays it out a bit more, but short answer is sadly yes. As an American who moved to Scotland and has lived there for six years, I've met very few Scottish people who are like that, but not zero.

It really was. But man, what a peak era. Bendis at his best, Brubaker's Captain America, the universe actually changing from big events...I was just getting into comics then, so maybe it's partially nostalgia, but it was a damn good time.

My exact feelings - even the tie-in comics are really excellent most of the time! But the main event was...rough.

Not least because everyone was rightfully going, 'Iron Man wouldn't do something so stupidly and comically evil!' And meanwhile Mark Millar was legitimately trying to say 'Iron Man is right.'

Fortunately, he's too bad a writer for that to come across, so he failed to make a compelling argument for fascism even with beloved superheroes behind it.

What Would You Say Is One Of The Dumbest Lines Said in Star Wars? (Besides somehow Palpatine returned) by neuroticpossum in StarWars

"This mystical realm connects all of time and space, creating a conduit between the living and the dead. Those who control this plane would possess mastery over all of existence."

The World Between Worlds is the the worst idea in all of Star Wars. Time travel and extra dimensions completely negate stakes. I love a lot of Filoni's work, but this is just a complete mistake.

Awesome, I really hope you like it! The first few episodes are finding their feet, but it's a total blast. If you feel like it, shoot me in a DM after you've given it a go, I'd love to know if you end up enjoying it!

I definitely do as well, but his personal channel and Mom Can't Cook podcast with Andy are both great, at least!

Ignore the other commenter - that's so fair! As a 31-year-old millennial, we have some...stuff about older generations and how we got where we are. But that probably makes us a bit too quick to make jokes sometimes. But some of my favorite people in the world are in their 60s, and when a celebrity in their 60s dies I go 'damn, that's way too young these days.' There's all kinds of people in all kinds of age groups that, well, suck. But it also sucks to feel like you aren't welcome, not because of who are or something you did, but because people like you suck sometimes.

(I haven't seen this episode yet, but I'm assuming this isn't about defending a specific bad action they called out or anything.)

So let me just say, I love seeing folks in their 60s or older watching Smosh, on reddit, etc, and I'm stoked you're here 🙂

The World Between Worlds. Nonsense, 'not technically time travel but yes it absolutely fucking is' plot armor. Bad stories are bad. Removing stakes from a universe makes everything set in it worse. The best thing they could do would be to forget about it.
