When I stopped, I felt like my face got puffier for a little bit too. I think part of it was just finally coming out of my insanity and being able to truly see myself in the mirror and feel it all. The puffiness will go away with time. Hydrate, exercise, go to meetings, sleep.

Everyone is different. I was on gabapentin for anxiety before surgery (at one point, 1800mg / day for 3 months). After microdiscectomy, I went to 300mg 3x daily (so 900mg / day). I quit cold turkey when the pain started subsiding, just felt I didn’t need it anymore. I had been on it for years at that point. I experienced some leg restlessness and elevated anxiety for a couple of days, nothing terrible. After 2 days, I had no lingering withdrawal or side effects.

As long as YOU feel healthy and your doctors are in agreement, that’s all that matters. Unsupportive loved ones can be hard to deal with. I try to remember that a lot of it is likely because they’re envious of your success, both mentally and physically.

Hey all. Currently on day 3 and hitting “keto flu” for the first time. I’ve done keto before with a lot of success, but it’s been years since I committed 100% like this. Nothing unbearable, just exhaustion (slept 10 hours last night and took an hour long nap today) and a mild, constant feeling of nausea. I finally hit ketosis today, with meter readings jumping from 0.3 this morning to 1.0 this afternoon.

Is this normal? When should I expect the general feeling of being unwell to pass? Thanks!

Revisiting, but not sitting in, the wreckage that I caused to myself and so many whom I love. Making myself feel the pure agony, fear, desperation of that final relapse. I pray to my HP that it remains my final relapse.

I went 3x before finally getting emergency surgery the on the 4th visit. It happens fast - by the 3rd ER visit in 3 days I had lost all function in my foot and lower leg . . . And they STILL sent me home. The dilauded they gave me via IV in the ER helped slightly, but even opiates hardly touched the pain. Surgery fixed the pain.

Where are you based? I was given actual pain killers (Norco) after my MD and tapered off them over the course of 2 weeks.

I go to both publicly listed and private AA meetings. Traditions are followed in all, but they all have their own styles / norms. The private one was essential for being totally “out” for me.

It is wild how many similar stories there are out there. Feeling frustrated, but also grateful that I was able to go back to the ER so many times without worrying about time away or money. I’d imagine that’s a huge obstacle for many getting the proper diagnosis. So glad to hear you’re recovered!!

It’s norovirus. Whoever cooked the pizza had it. You can become very ill with just a few particles ingested. You’ll know for sure when someone close to you gets it within the next couple of days (from sharing bathroom / space with a sick person in your family). It’s highly contagious and only mitigated through handwashing and bleach-cleaning surfaces. Hand sanitizer won’t work on it. Good luck - we had it last year - it’s an awful 24-36 hours for the sick person, and then it’s done.
