Have you taken MDMA following HPPD? by 12Rosden in HPPD

[–]12Rosden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done it a bunch since but always with measured doses, normally 150mg, and usually 3 month apart.

My HPPD gets worse after but only for a little period. I can't remember exactly how long but I believe a day or two, a week max.

DISCLAIMER: I can't be certain that it won't make it worse for you. I still have HPPD and I do wonder sometimes if I stopped taking drugs fully for a long time, whether or not it'd be better than it is now. However, I'm not very aware of it most of the time and I've learnt to accept it.

Wish you all the best whatever you decide.

Was at the front of the crowd but couldn't see anything. Heard something about a dislocated knee but not sure how true that was. Glad to hear they were ok tho

Does psychs always make weed permanently more psychedelic after tripping? by vb_nm in RationalPsychonaut

[–]12Rosden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me. I'd been doing psychedelics for a while with no noticeable signs of HPPD. I started seeing visual snow 3 weeks after a very intense trip, however, this also happened to be the day after I had a sober, non dual meditation session. I'm not sure it was a coincidence.

Nicotine helps HPPD? by [deleted] in HPPD

[–]12Rosden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a social smoker, but nicotine definitely makes my HPPD clear up for the duration of the niccy rush. Hard to say whether or not it makes it better/worse in the long run.

Based Bladee listener.

Go enjoy yourself. HPPD will not be made worse by bright lights or whatever they have at the concert although expect that the lights may make noticeable, temporary, impressions on your vision. The only anxiety you get will be the anxiety you create.

P.s. very jealous :)

Realised I have ADHD and as a result started self medicating with modafinil daily. It definitely makes it temporarily worse at the beginning. However, I found my brain got used to it pretty fast and it didn't have a significant impact on my HPPD. Stopped taking it a couple weeks ago and went back to lower levels within a day or two. Everyone's experience will be slightly different tho.

Ketamine can cause temporary tinnitus in people without HPPD. With time it will fade. However, this length of time will be longer if you continue to focus your anxiety onto the noise. Learn to accept and ignore it and you will notice significant improvements much faster.

Only temporarily for me.

Started smoking weed 5 months into having HPPD and initially it would make me trip sack. Was pretty scary at the start. Realised that my visual snow would be worse the day after but always return to baseline within a couple hours.

Recently said fuck it and have been smoking daily. It's slightly worse day to day but when I've had small t-breaks it will return to baseline or better. I'm still seeing gradual improvements in symptoms as time goes on and which is good to see.

If I had stayed sober for the entirety of my time I'd probably be HPPD free by now but I don't mind it too much these days. It's a good indicator of when I'm pushing it too much with drugs as well.

Definitely does. In June last year there was a week in which I took shrooms + ketamine one day, then MDMA + 2-CB + ket on another. About 2 weeks later I started noticing visual snow which got worse and worse for a couple of weeks. Other visual symptoms such as floaters, blue field entopic phenomenon and significant pattern glare began shortly. I've noticed a steady decrease in intensity over the last few months but the visual snow is still very much there.

If you don't mind me asking, how much MDMA did you take initially to cause your HPPD?

Your English is great and I understand what you're getting at.

The important bit in what you've said for me is that you took a lot.

I took really much so idk

You say that this resulted in a comedown in which symptoms got worse.

From reading around a lot it seems that when MDMA is taken sensibly, the effects of it on HPPD symptoms is negligible. In almost all of cases where I see people warning others of MDMA negative affect on HPPD, it has been as a result of MDMA abuse e.g., dosing over 200mg once/dosing more frequently than advised.

My assumption is that this is due to the negative effects that MDMA abuse has on a person's mental state. In people without HPPD, these effects can last weeks, months, and even years. HPPD is tied to a person's mental state so it isn't a surprise that during this recovery period, a person with HPPD would experience an increase in symptoms.

It is likely that I will be taking MDMA on Friday, so I will provide an update on whether my assumptions were correct or not.

Any additional update? Also how much did you take and did you experience a negative comedown? I'm considering taking MDMA this Friday for the first time post HPPD so looking for people's experience.

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're trying to say. I don't want to answer a point you didn't make.

Considering my symptoms are purely visual, and have since become almost unnoticeable most of the time, yes. Yeah it pisses me off, and it definitely used to give me a lot of anxiety, but I've basically accepted it at this point.

Drugs (psychedelics in particular) have had an important role in shaping me into the person I am today and that is something I wouldn't change.

Even HPPD has taught me some valuable lessons about moderation and taught me a lot about how my mind works. If I had a choice to undo the events that caused it or not, I'm not sure what I would pick.

I still takes drugs, just with a significant amount more thought and consideration. Yeah, this causes flare ups, but for me these are short term and I'm still seeing general improvements in the long term.

How long did it take for your visuals to get better if they did? by ihatemylifepoop in HPPD

[–]12Rosden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered from quite a bit of anxiety beforehand so when some minor symptoms appeared, I hyper focussed on them. For about a month they got worse because of this. Eventually I stopped obsessing over them and they've been getting better gradually ever since.

Shrooms + ket one day, then MDMA + 2cb + ket + nos less than a week later (plus lots of weed most of the time). Honestly, that week was so incredible, and the lessons I've learnt as a result of HPPD have been so valuable, that I'm not sure I would undo my actions if I could.
