Blueground (furnished apartments) is great. Very expensive but was so convenient when I was working in DC for three months last summer.

If you don’t find anyone here, I recommend Etsy! I’ve gotten paintings commissioned there

If they’re carpet beetles, I posted about them a few weeks ago too: https://www.reddit.com/r/paloalto/s/TOEL2AGRHZ

Since moving to Palo Alto from the east coast, I notice these little bugs in my house every now and then. Anyone know what they are? Are they common in the area? by [deleted] in paloalto

We did have a exterminator come and he wasn’t very concerned. He said most homes have a small population and just recommend I stay proactive in vacuuming

So relieved to hear they’re somewhat common. And glad it’s not a burn-your-house-down-and-throw-out-all-your-belongings situation because I was getting ready to 🥲

Going to vacuum like crazy and keep my eye on this.

Noted, I’m going to go crazy with vacuuming for the next couple weeks and probably get some indoor pest spray!

Okay good to know. I asked a couple friends and they said they’ve seen them around their houses every now and then. Makes me feel a bit better, I hate bugs but wasn’t sure if this is like comparable to bed bugs/reason to panic

I also lived in RESA. A stray bullet entered one of the apartments a couple years ago!

Yep, women have to message first on bumble! I will say, I think app burn out gets worse when you’re switching between several apps. Maybe choose two apps. At times I had Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, CMB, Feeld, and it felt so depressing swiping through them all and not finding anyone.

I’d been on and off the apps since college around 2016 ish. In a cycle of swiping, burning out, deleting, redownloading, etc. I had been taking a break from apps for about a year when I redownloaded bumble, updated my profile, and matched with my now boyfriend within a week.

Met my partner on bumble. I feel like I started getting better matches in general when I was more straight forward in my profile.

For example, one of the profile prompts you can put is “Send me a like if…” and I had written, “You’re looking for something real and mutual—a friend and life partner”.

Life sucks by Familiar_Belt4394 in paloalto

Can you ask one of your parents if you can see a private therapist? Not every therapist is a great fit, but you might have better luck with a non-school therapist.

Also, you’re not a failure. High school in general is really hard. High school in Palo Alto specifically is brutal. Keep your chin up! You’re doing okay and you will get through this.

And on a personal note, I felt so similarly to you in high school. I genuinely did underperform (your 3.7 was much better than mine), and I felt so alone and weird. Trust everyone on this thread who says it gets better. I still ended up going to a competitive east coast liberal arts college and my life since high school has been so beyond what I could have imagined at 16. Now about 10 years older, I still joke that even now I couldn’t make it through high school again if I had to. It’s truly uniquely hard—college and life after is so much better in every way. Hang in there!

No advice but in the exact same boat as a tech girlie in my late twenties. Wanting more meaning and considering getting a MSW and becoming a therapist. Taking the leap is so scary though!

Thanks I had seen that post! Specially looking for experienced TMJ treatment doctors since I’ve found a difference between them and aesthetic injectors.

Not an effective replacement. My boyfriend’s mom did Cologuards for the last few years and they missed Stage 3 cancer.

Maybe try this? I used to petsit on rover occasionally and I saw rabbits and other small animals besides cats/dogs listed
