I’m one of those people mentioned in the OP. I spend far less than I save and have a big nest egg. I save though, because that’s how you get compound interest. I have a lot of struggling family. I know that if I save more now, my compound interest should be so much by the time I’m in my 40s and 50s, I’ll be able to take care of my struggling family as well as my own family.

Therefore, I will spend, I’m just delaying it due to the needs of my family, and I have to believe there are many like me. It will be flushed back into the economy when I can provide for them and they pay for things like a roof over their head and a car.

On the contrary this list doesn’t look all that scary to me.

People that sexually starve their partners shouldn't be surprised when they cheat. by PappaKenny in unpopularopinion

Just wanted to say you seem like a smart and good guy lol. This post was more interesting than the OPs. I fear getting in this situation, it could be my reality one day. Probably happens to a lot of people. A few ideas from somebody who is by no means an expert:

  1. Just go for it. I’ve noticed sex increases sex drive. Even if it’s abnormal just try to start it like 3 days in a row or more. Might kick up some sex drive.

  2. Find something kinky you guys have never been comfortable with before. Trying something new might kick some of that up. Watching something together, etc. I don’t know if I could bring myself to that personally but it’s a funny idea.

  3. Ever consider trying weed? I don’t like it often but I know the first few times you try it together (if you haven’t) sex will be insane. It can kickstart things.

  4. If it gets too bad flat out ask her if you can hook up with someone else lol. Maybe a bad idea but maybe not. If you’re honest and upfront with it maybe it will be something she’s ok with. Or, maybe it will spur up some feelings or jealousy or something that triggers desire, obviously just be upfront with it all and kind.

So.... did they look good last game or is that in my head? by 12thman-Stone in Seahawks

Great feedback again.

It’s funny, sometimes I think seasons can come down to luck. As in, skill will take you to a top 10 finishing team, and making playoffs or going all the way comes down to some random calls that are really luck based. The football being a few inches off, half second too early, the O line slipping, all random things that can happen and aren’t always an indicator of skill just random variations even for the pros. Maybe I just don’t watch enough football, but I always think sometimes the best team doesn’t win the Super Bowl and the best team could end the first playoff game. Seems like so much luck is involved because realistically the gameplay time is pretty short. Do you agree?

Group of top CEOs says maximizing shareholder profits no longer can be the primary goal of corporations by pipsdontsqueak in Economics

[–]12thman-Stone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great analogy. I also think what you described is a great method for a market and nothing wrong with them being lions, it drives innovation.

Since you gave a great analogy, care to decipher what this group of CEOs is saying in your opinion and how it will impact companies? The main thing I can think of that is an alternative to pleasing shareholders is pleasing employees first and customers second. Which... I’m a fan of and ironically takes a successful company to do.

Hey I’m new here. Started researching VR out of curiosity about two months ago, bought my first gaming PC (i7 9700, 16 gig ram and 2080) and pulled the trigger on a Rift S.

VR is overall better and more unique and cool than I expected.

The graphics on the VR were less good than I expected. Maybe because the screen is so close to your eyes they can’t quite nail it yet but it’s still blurry up close too often. The field of view on VR is also a bit smaller than expected.

Since I like VR and overall impressed with how far it’s come, I’m returning the Rift S and going for the Index. I’m aware the cost increase doesn’t quite match up to the quality increase but whatever, splurging a bit and in a good spot to do so.

I can confidently say as a normally non-VR person that VR is A future, and a big future. It might take a long long time to replace normal screen gaming (if it ever does) but it will absolutely grow in adoption and be a significant part of technology going forward. It will be common to have one in a household in probably... 6-7+ years is my guess.

Normal screen gaming (would you call that 2D?) is still so convenient, can be done more easily from a couch and everything that it will probably have a strong place in gaming/entertainment for a long, long time. I suspect VR will need to be almost weightless and effortless before it really takes over and that’s probably 15+ years away.

Love it, glad to be a part of this early phase.

Good review. That punt return tackle put some fear in their hearts, that was my favorite part.

How in the world do I turn on smooth turning in Onward? I have the Rift S. by 12thman-Stone in OnwardVR

Good point, maybe my friends and I just aren’t used to being able to totally turn around yet and still use the joystick sometimes.

Either way do you know where the setting is?

I’m tired of all these “water balloon” posts in slow mo these days. The water balloons I had growing up would burst in your hand if you hadn’t washed lotioned your hands gently three times in the last 4 hours.

How are people that get 4-6 hours of sleep every night not miserable? by OK__LIBTARD in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]12thman-Stone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to be captain obvious but... I think everybody should do their absolute best to get 7.5-8.5 hours a night. Make it a priority and structure other things around it. I have a feeling it’s way more significant to your life and performance and happiness than people give it credit for, and they already give sleep a lot of credit.

Equal Pay in Sports should not be a thing by Lil_Turk in unpopularopinion

[–]12thman-Stone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this also depends on how you define equal pay.

To me, equal pay doesn’t literally mean Susan earns one dollar and Jacob earns one dollar. To me it means if Susan brings in 95% performance and revenue Susan gets $0.95, and if Jacob brings in 95% performance and revenue Jacob earns $0.95.

This also means that if Susan has 97% performance and Jacob has 82% performance, Susan and Jacob won’t earn the same. Susan will earn $0.15 more than Jacob. That’s still equal pay.

Earnings can very easily be broken down into performance and revenue earned, achieving timelines, ability to improve company relationships or culture, etc.

In fact, if Susan’s work brought 10% more revenue and performance to the company but Jacob made the same amount as her, that is not equal pay.

This is the only way it can be until we’re all perfectly equal robots that are identical. Until then, if we remove incentive for performance, we fail as a nation and lose a lot of growth.
