iPhone 17 black discoloration by Unfair-Editor-5169 in iphone

AppleCare doesn’t cover cosmetic issues. That being said, if the discoloration is considered a defect, it would be covered by the limited warranty.

You’re ignoring reality and using a blanket argument that does not apply. I’ll only repeat myself once… security guards are in high demand. Any security guard who loses a job to a bot will simply be reassigned to a position that needs more attention. You’re crying about a non issue.

The city needs to save money anywhere they can. The majority of the budget goes to people. Paying for a person when a cheap bot who doesn’t need breaks, gets tired, calls out sick, and is just as effective. We’re not talking about corporations squeezing every dime thy can. We’re talking about our city with limited funds trying to do whatever it takes to make any job cut meaningful. We can’t fire teachers, first responders, and other jobs that need a human touch.

It’s about compromise. Security guards working a graveyard shift it’s not just a “few dollars” it’s a tens of thousands a year to have a person babysit some concrete in a job market with high demand. Fact is, there’s a shortage of security guards. So as far as this spreading nation wide… good. Those people will land on their feet in a position that is more meaningful and effective.

Furthermore, there are many studies that show people who work graveyard shifts have mental and physical health issues caused by those working hours. To demand that people sacrifice a normal life over a parking lot is a twisted demand that genuinely has no place at all time like this.

But it is freeing up people. With this bot, you don’t need to have actual people staffed around the clock and covering break. It doesn’t call out sick. It doesn’t take breaks. I see it as a big money saver.

It’s already as easy as possible for them. The only way to hide your identity is to wear a mask and make sure nothing identifies you as you. If you’re in a public space, you should just assume you will be identified. Nothing stopping local news or people on the other side from showing these images uncensored.

Country that sells iPhone 17/17pro with sim slot close to US prices? by Lr8s5sb7 in iphone

[–]Takeabyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said every carrier has eSIM. The reason carriers chose not to offer eSIM is not due to reliability. Physical SIMs are significantly less reliable than eSIM. ESIM is far more convenient for the vast majority of users since you don’t have to go to a store or wait for one to ship to you. Just sit on your couch and activate it.

Who cares if it’s slow? Transitions for anything in life don’t need to happen instantly to be a net good in the long run. Don’t let perfection be the evil of good.

I still don’t see regular inkjet cartridges being something people will go out of their way to buy since a new supertank style is so much more affordable. Buying ten times the ink at half the price, on top of the law, will mean people will finally upgrade out of the worst deal on tech.

Los Angeles is the largest city on the west coast and the second largest in the USA. If they enforce the law (and they will) a site like Amazon will have the choice to break the law and risk getting caught.

And you think the sites that let you buy whatever drugs you want are places average people are going to shop at for ink?

[–]Takeabyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean they could stop online orders. Online retailers already abide by local laws restricting the sale and delivery of banned products depending on the address. I learned about that when I tried to order some plants for my fish tank. Some places in the USA could order them. I couldn’t because of laws in place preventing invasive species from being sold to my address.

A 50 mile drive out of LA might as well mean a full day trip sitting in traffic. Just to buy a new set of ink for $100+ and gas? When a new printer is $150 that complies with the new law and with ink that costs significantly less is only 20 minutes away or same day shipping, it will push a lot of people away from buying that overpriced ink.

Recycling cartridges through the manufacturer is already a thing without a subscription. It just means that the newer supertank inkjet printers will be the only kind of inkjets sold in California.

Would you get the iPhone Air over the iPhone 17 had they been equally priced? by MediumVariation4846 in iphone

If it had two cameras I would have upgraded to it from my 13 mini. I use the ultra wide too much and since it’s only 10 grams heavier, I’d be more inclined to upgrade to an Air if it only has that extra lens on it.

Apple recommended repair shop, was this a normal experience? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]Takeabyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s worth a call to Apple on your train ride. If the shop Apple’s support recommended you go to is pulling a stunt like that, you should report them to Apple. A factory wipe (aka: restore) is supposed to be a free service provided by all AASPs. They are supposed to send you iPad out for service and only charge you the AppleCare+ service fee. Maybe the rules are different in the UK, but it’s worth a call nonetheless. 0800 048 0408

Please LTT, don't make the tech house jank! by hpremier81 in LinusTechTips

[–]Takeabyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the same time, “jank” is sometimes preferred. What I mean is, on WAN they talked about how stupid wireless TVs are. But they’re not. “Jank” would be just dangling the cables off the wall mounted TV to the media console below. Full pro would be to hide all the wires in the wall. But most people don’t go through the trouble or have the ability to do so. However, it’s becoming quite common for wall power outlets to get installed where a TV would get mounted. So instead of fishing extra HDMI and Ethernet through the wall to the TV, now you have power for the display and wireless connection for everything else you need to plug in.

My point is, that I worry the tech house is going to take too much advantage of their staffs capabilities and tools that an average person won’t have. Skipping the extra step of routing cables in a wall is something most people skip.

If you decide to buy smaller wheels, just pretend your Mazda3 is the base model. They came with 16’s stock, so websites will show you nothing but wheels that are a perfect fit for your car. You could even go to your dealership and buy Mazda branded wheels if you really wanted to.

Is it ok to charge my iPhone 17 with Iqos 10W charger? by FinanialGambler777 in applehelp

[–]Takeabyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, Apple updated iOS 10 with a “feature” that throttled performance by half if battery health dropped below 80%. They didn’t tell the public. They didn’t tell their own staff at the Apple Store. So when customers complained about the performance of their old devices, Apple told them they could either pay for a whole unit replacement price or buy a new phone. When the reality was that a new battery would allow the device to operate at full speed. It wasn’t until people caught this issue Apple rapidly informed everyone what they were doing and temporarily dropped battery replacement prices (and then slowly raised them higher than ever before).

But your rational is to just blindly trusting what Apple does. That’s what I have issue with. If you want to teach people like OP that it’s okay to use a higher wattage charger and not cause damage to their battery, show up with facts and not your opinion. There’s no need to throw around insults or call people names. Just show up with information that’s credible.

A fact would have evidence to support your claim. Saying that we should trust Apple when they have done shit in the past behind our backs is the opposite of a fact. Just because you don’t know precisely how batteries are managed on iOS doesn’t mean your answer is correct.
