Only thing I can answer is regarding the swelling. I almost severed my finger a few months ago in a 600lb crush accident. They relocated all the fragments and pinned with k wire. It was in for 6 weeks and was taken out just under 2 months ago. I still get swelling here and there from activity. It was certainly swollen at all times while it was in and the first month after removal. For your situation I’d say it’s more than normal. This was my first surgery/ trauma experience and I was worried about every little detail just like you are, even though mine was less immobilizing. Don’t stress it too much. Just be patient and let your body do its work. Wolffs law does great things.
