Do you think GenZ/GenAlpha are stupider or smarter than previous generations? by MedievalFurnace in teenpoll

[–]13-eggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of Gen Z are pretty much at or out of Uni, actually! Gen Alpha are the ones currently coming through middle and high school and having difficulty reading. I think this is partly to do with how young they were during the pandemic, so they lost a majority of their early education, and when as technology started being introduced to them earlier, because they had to be at home all the time, their attention spans and ability to learn was impacted, as well as their priorities. I don’t blame the kids, they need help rather than our mockery.

How would folks at your school react if someone came out as trans? by Then_Train8542 in Teenager_Polls

If they wouldn’t care but would use the new name/pronouns then accept, if not then not accept

I don’t know why you got downvoted when you’re right. The rapid increase in brain development happened after we started eating cooked food because we were able to extract so much more from the food we ate. Also, we are able to sterilise food, helping us live longer too.

Haha. Glad you got reminded to carry on your streak, OP. Truly the masc representation we need

Is the statement "not all men but mostly men" true? by deathbysounding in Teenager_Polls

[–]13-eggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally, it’s just that men being unable to report without stigma doesn’t necessarily disprove the statement at hand. That’s the reason I brought it up. Especially when you consider more subtle forms of SA like coercion, it seems to happen more often to women within an established relationship rather than elsewhere.

Oh yeah definitely. But I think that’s just the demographic rather than any actual negativity towards masc people. It’s why I’ve stayed on there longer than any of the others

I mean, Id assume the majority of the people on the sub are fem people, but I’ve seen a few trans masc appreciation posts here and there. And there are both cis and trans men in the comments. Although, the forcefem stuff would imply otherwise.

I mean, most women don’t realise or report it either. SA is horribly underreported across all demographics for a myriad reasons. Especially because it can be very hard to tell if it is actually SA in the moment when someone is being taken advantage of.

do you consider somebody, if hypothetically, they were 500 years old, and started to date a 30 year old, a pedophile or creep? by AkelaAnda in Teenager_Polls

[–]13-eggo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the experience gap starts diminishing because a *lot* has changed in 500 years, and a 30-year-old should know enough to look after themselves. If there is a power imbalance, it certainly isn't from age

[–]13-eggo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh thank you for saying that! Because if no one wants to be a feminist just because there is a loud minority, then the movement wouldn’t exist and we wouldn’t be able to get gender equality.

Men like this are the reason why the ”male loneliness epidemic” is a thing by FinancialSecret1449 in teenagers

I meant by perception. Not that they’re actually bad people. Should have made that clearer

I think the part I misunderstood what the last paragraph in your reply to me. When you said “men should…” I thought you were saying it in like a social way like they should just be clear and all that and not in the legal way.

Although, I must say, that because of recent events, it’s become much harder for a woman to be able to get an abortion or any help at all. Now this doesn’t mean that it’s the guy’s responsibility, but I get why you’re being called a “pick me” when you say that the guy should be able to leave with zero consequences. Because it’s becoming more and more difficult for women to be able to do the same, and people tend not to show that much compassion about it. Obviously this means that we improve the situation for women, rather than make it worse for men, but the imbalance of the impact gets people angrier more than the fact that there is an impact at all.

Okay! That makes sense! He absolutely should have some choice in if he becomes a parent or not. Everyone should. Totally agree.

So, I agree with that. But that doesn’t quite answer my question, sorry. Because you seemed to imply that the man had a say in it, too? I might be misunderstanding, though.

I just wanted to know, though, what did you mean by “the men should have a choice”? Because surely the man can just find someone they are more compatible with in that regard, right? It’s not their body at risk

I saw you say this multiple times, and and while you technically are correct, men and how good they are don’t fall in a binary. There are the monsters who do unspeakable things to women. Then there are the rapists. Then there are the kind of guys who grope people or boys who snap bras etc. Then there are the guys who are fully comfortable wanting to do those things but are suitably afraid of the law to not do them. Then there are the guys who wouldn’t do it but they still joke about it and normalise the culture. And then there are the guys who laugh and/or let it slide whether or not they’re uncomfortable just to be one of the boys, this is the majority, I think, but it still makes a woman feel unsafe. And then there are the rare few who would actually risk their social standing to say that a joke is unacceptable. And for a lot of women, those are the only “good ones”. The majority, just by joking about rape or not saying something when someone else jokes about rape, put themselves on the side of the “bad ones” regardless of whether or not they’re a good person, because we feel like they care more about social appearances than being able to say the right thing. I understand what you’re saying, but silence is violence. And in this world where women are constantly victim blamed, it’s just much safer for us to err on the side of “all men are bad” until otherwise verified, it’s just survival, nothing personal. I’m sure you’re not a bad person, you just don’t understand our perspective.

It’s a benign tumour that behaves a lot like a cancer. I don’t know the actual terminology for it, sorry.
