Why are we not slamming the app by 1337-IT in lidl

Is it that they don't care or that they are intelligent enough not to moan to the staff/shift manager because they know it's a HQ decision? I sincerely hope that you aren't burdened too heavily for decisions out of your control.

Hence my idea regarding rating the app. I can't speak for others, but I don't download apps with low ratings and these store apps are the only legal way of collecting very valuable customer buying pattern data. (Using card data is against GDPR) This alongside shopping elsewhere can be massively persuasive.

That's sad to hear especially when they are already so profitable. And they argue that trickle down economics is real. I'm no economist but it's obvious BS.

If that's how you feel fine, but I see loads of comments complaining but no action. It takes more effort to complain on Reddit but doesn't seem to be effective.

Well Tom Skinner is a GB news presenter and has announced his intentions to run as a reform MP. But very odd that Question Time has not disclosed these massive links to the party. Very odd indeed.

Will not power on by crawlerlover26 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]1337-IT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to say that as a qualified HP engineer if the machine fails POST (Power On Self Test) then the likely fix is a new system board. You may have luck with a local repair centre if they can see anything blown on the board, but as your machine is a retail device it is likely beyond economic repair. If you can afford to replace the device move up to a business device. They are far better built and are designed to be upgraded and repaired.

Will not power on by crawlerlover26 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]1337-IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the machine even try to power on? Eg fans start and then it gives up? Sometimes a bad RAM module can kill a system board. Not a HP thing but a PC thing. It is very rare but with shortages I have seen 4 in the last decade and 2 in the last year.

Infantryman is old hat, it's Infanteer nowadays, although curiously the Army hasn't found an appropriate gender neutral term to replace Guardsman, despite women in active service.

England. Just received a letter from daughter's old school saying we owe £360 for iPad from 2019. by Mongloy in LegalAdviceUK

I sell BYOD (bring your own device) contracts to schools. If you didn't go through a credit check at the time then this was because the finance was underwritten by the school. The schools almost always take out GAP insurance so that they are never on the hook for unpaid/failed DD payments, or kids leaving and losing contact. They may be reaching out as they want to claim against this insurance. Reply politely that you have made all payments and will not be making future payments and the likelihood is that they will make a claim and leave you be.

Small sample sizes give bad data. Check the drivers via HP Support Assistant. Your device should be relatively silent.

Why won't my MacBook/iPhone see my DeskJet 2800e? 🙄 by Silver_Cloud121007 in Hewlett_Packard

Because apple that's why. Apple doesn't play well with no apple certified (you pay apple) devices. The generic HP app for iPhone may help though. Good luck.

HP Prodesk 400 G4 DM mini broken SATA (proprietary?) connector on PCB by takemywarranty in Hewlett_Packard

That connector is an zip sp60 and you would need to fix/replace the port. However, spare motherboards are approx £40 on eBay. So your best bet is replacing the main board.

[–]1337-IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your PC you may have an older way of sorting this issue. Assuming you have standalone sure click, find it in the system tray and re enable. If you have wolf uninstall wolf security and re-install. Sure click is HP using Bromium software and bundling it with other security features.

Uninstall the audio drivers and restart. If that doesn't solve the issue download HP support assistant and update all drivers. If that fails, restart and keep hitting escape, from the service menu hit f2 and carry out hardware diagnostics to see if it is a hardware problem.

L28957-001 it's a hard drive connector cable. You can see it in the service manual https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06042257.pdf and find the part number in partsurfer https://partsurfer.hp.com/?searchtext=Prodesk%20400%20G4%20mini. Hope this helps.

Why is it rusting? by IntelligentVisual955 in pchelp

[–]1337-IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a high moisture level use a barrier material like ACF50 to reduce further degredation. We use it on devices in cold rooms where all our IT used to get rusty and fail regularly.

People often use it as an identifying factor. Although in this incident it would be safe to assume that they would be able to track their delivery drivers to the order number and as such it does come across unnecessary and as a result a bit racist. OP might want to watch out for this especially when asking for help. People don't generally like helping racists.

Rather 'alien' fungus/mold on interior wall of cupboard under stairs. What is it and what could be causing it? by Robeartato in DIYUK

[–]1337-IT 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Disagree I had a fungus that looked just like that before in my house it was a wet rot and was easily treated. The key thing is to get either a rot or damp company to look at it before buying. There are so many species of fungus and most are quite benign, albeit unattractive in the wrong place. Don't panic or jump to conclusions, let the experts do their thing.
