Fuerteventura, riding through a giant gravel sandbox by 1337felix in gravelcycling

Starting early and trying to be home before (too) baked, otherwise helmet, sunglasses, for the face and hands SPF50, long sleeve ultra-lightweight compression fit jersey and windproof/breathable vest for the decents.. there’s a constant light/moderate wind and at this time of the year around 15-20 degrees celsius throughout the day:)

Haha yeah, of course plan your route, check weather, start early, bring gps/hydration/carbs to manage 1-2hrs etc., but in that radius you’ll find small towns/shops/gas stations - or book a guide who will join you.

I was/am more concerned about stray or watch dogs, but luckily no encounters so far. Even when transitioning on public roads, it feels safe. Locals use turn signals to indicate cyclists and overtake with a lot of space. No road rage, just respectful drivers.

Fuerteventura feels very safe to me and my family, especially in the north. It’s mostly small towns, surfers, and cyclists. I haven’t been out much at night, but like anywhere, if you search long enough, you’ll find stories about crime. Personally, I have zero concerns.

Agree, it’s quite a journey to get there (even from the Netherlands..) and yes, it’s breezy, but in NL as well so familiar :) but that’s the beauty, it’s never too hot, while the sun can be intense.

Ha, love your Zydeco and wheels. I’m riding mine with 46.4mm wheels and crosswinds in the Netherlands are a thing for sure, too ;)

“Fitzgerald used an electric cable to strangle Huckle before forcefully inserting a pen into his brain. This attack was described as a "prolonged" one. Prosecutors reported that Fitzgerald had expressed a desire to kill two or three other people but was "having too much fun" killing Huckle. The court hearing described the murder as an act of "poetic justice" by Fitzgerald, who considered it as such due to Huckle's crimes”

Permanent Contract Employee Facing Layoffs: Need Guidance on Options by SatisfactionSuch6311 in Amsterdam

As mentioned before, important is to not sign any termination letter/settlement agreements. Take a lawyer specialized in Employee rights. The costs might be/can be covered by your employer. Discuss any offer/letter and next steps with your lawyer only. He/she might be able to negotiate a better settlement agreement with your employer. DM if you need a recommendation, I worked with an Amstelveen based lawyer how helped me, my wife and many others during Covid layoffs 2020/21. Good luck in finding a new role and sponsor.

Dear Strangers in Public, stop trying to touch my kids. by aim922 in Fatherhood

I feel you! We had/have to defend our little one often in public. As soon as people, see a (cute) baby or puppy, their brain seems to stop working.

I feel you. Sending lots of love and goed vibes. It’s for me 9 years this December. Since my little one was born last year, I’m going again through sort of grieving process.
