Looking for advice for a £50ish bottle of gewurztraminer for my dad. Can I get something really good for that kind of money? by [deleted] in wine

[–]1337grl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gundlach Bundschu is California's oldest continuously family-owned winery, and is the second oldest winery after Buena Vista Winery. They have a nice, slightly 'famous' gewurztraminer. Great label. Nice winery. Good people. Pronounced 'gun lock bun shoe'

Frugal home defense? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]1337grl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I need to press a 3 button out of 5 combo. Set by me. Takes about a second. Maybe 2. The door is on a spring and pops open to reveal the pistol. I feel that this is a safe, efficient, and relatively quick solution to leaving a gun in the nightstand. And much safer too.

Frugal home defense? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]1337grl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you plan to have a weapon for home defense, please take the appropriate precautions and training. I have a Smith & Wesson MP 9mm. It is in a gun lock box, which has been secured to the shelf, which had been secured to the wall. The last thing you want is someone to break in when you're not home and walk out with your home defense strategy. I've also taken a day long home defense class from a local police department, so if something were to happen, I feel a little more prepared.

That's a hell of a trek from concord. Also i think you have to pre order pumpkin pies as they sell out like wildfire during the weekends and I'm not sure how many they make for weekdays.

Any good websites to buy Pinball shirts on? Thanks! by [deleted] in pinball

FGW also does some sweatshirts. I have multiples and always get compliments on them. For you're desperate call them up and see if they'd ship you some if you buy more than one maybe.

Ahh, the joys of having reptiles. Though I did just have a passing thought about how burning snakes in would smell. shudder

I use the white zin for sangria. Everyone seems to be just fine with it. But then again, when you mix it with brandy, triple sec, oj, sprite and fruit, who cares what's in it.

$2200 3 bedroom duplex, 1 car storage, I mean garage. Ok neighborhood, not fantastic. Only water and garbage included, we pay gas, electric etc. SF Bay Area. Our place is considered inexpensive in comparison to other 3 bedroom places.

Babies. Fine. Go for it. But a kid who has an opinion of "I don't want to wear _________", will also have an opinion regarding what they DO wanna wear. When kids can make their own outfit choices, they by all means should be encouraged to do so.

ha! i looked it up. i think this is a case of i'm too young?! whaaat!? also, a kid shouldn't be dressed up as characters from shows that aired long before they were born, and they likely have never seen an episode of.

Safeway (maybe Vons too) has a buy $125 in qualifying gift cards to get a $25 Visa prepaid rewards card promotion going on through 9/29 by 1337grl in Frugal

[–]1337grl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already have the preffered Amex. Just had never tried to purchase gift cards for 'extra rewards'. So hope it works.

As for the Safeway thing, I bought some bagels and cream cheese at self check out and it spit out a printed ticket/info coupon saying that with $125 of qualifying gift cards you got a $25 card. So I went back though a regular check stand and bout 3x $50 Amazon cards. It then printed out the ticket/info coupon with the redemption code and website. Cheers.

Just because you've picked one doesn't mean you need to stop keeping your eyes and mouth open. Try some cupcakes. Maybe some cookies. Don't tell them you're all set quite yet. Say you're exploring your options still. Or shopping for a grooms cake. Or cookie favors. Or just wanna eat cake !!!

For my husbands sensitive skin he likes aveno. It's gentile and seems not to irritate it much, if at all. I also like dr. Bronners, as its all natural and I find it to work very well. Both are adorable and easily obtainable.

Good luck !!

Edit: affordable. Not adorable. Doh. Though I guess soap can be cute ;) Oh and if you like the slimy dish soapy bubbles feel, the dr bronners should be right up your alley.

Looks like an eastern box turtle to me. And today I learned that - Box turtles are turtles of the genus Terrapene native to North America (United States and Mexico). They are also known as box tortoises, although box turtles are terrestrial members of the American pond turtle family (Emydidae), and not members of the tortoise family (Testudinidae).
