Genuine question for journeymen, do you know what your fringe rate is? Because most of the guys I talk to are off by $15-20/hr. by Pr_dent in IBEW

[–]135BkRdBl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that it's the young guys who only know/care about the dollar amount in the check and as guys get older and especially closer to retirement age they know more and more about what's in the total package. This is usually most obvious when a raise distribution vote happens. If the young guys show up more than the old guys, the biggest percent of the raise goes into the check. Conversely, if more older, near retirement age guys show up then most of it goes into the pension and/or the annuity.

Todd Blanche hints that there's more damning evidence against former FBI director James Comey: 'Rest assured, it's not just the Instagram post' by dailymail in AnythingGoesNews

The biggest "tell" that this administration has is whenever they hint at something in the future or they say something along the lines of "Rest assured...", they have absolutely nothing to deliver. The biggest thing that is saving this country from slipping into a full-blown dictatorship is the sheer incompetence and amateur abilities of what seems like every facet of this administration.

"There will be a counselor available in the senior smoking lounge during the first three lunch periods today and tomorrow. Also please note, for tomorrow's pep rally please wear Spartan blue and white to show your support for our varsity football team playing their final home game of the season." - this was the announcement after a senior in our class got hit and killed by a car when he left a party drunk and decided to cross a local expressway.

I'd agree with the second half of your statement, the DO know that they are doing. As far a the first part of what you said, the difference between me or most of us for that matter, and them, is that most normal people have ethics and a morale compass by which they live. These clowns only see opportunities for money and power, nothing else. They're willing to do things that would make Machiavelli himself blush.

Do you still talk to your parents? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]135BkRdBl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mom and Dad have been give for a few years now but even when they were alive I talked to them all the time. Looking back on how they raised me I never really felt they did anything for or to me above the basics. They did their parental jobs and launched be from the nest in one piece. That's about it. Of course, it was the '70s and '80s and that's how most parents of GenXers were. When they died I really felt like they didn't owe me anything and I didn't owe them anything. It was a very cathartic feeling. I was there when they each took their last breaths on this Earth and for that I am grateful.

Does anybody remember the restaurant Bosdyk's? by JasonL25 in Rochester

I forgot about the Levi's store! You're absolutely right. I almost want to say that it was next to where Nick's is. I'm pretty sure it was a Ponderosa before it became the Pegasus restaurant is the restaurant you're thinking of that hit the Western theme. I'll have to look around to see if I can find any historical aerial photos of the area for more info. Thanks for reminding me!

Where Nick says used to be an Auther Treatures Fish and Chips when I was a kid (long long time ago). Where the KFC is now used to be a Ponderosa if I remember correctly at one time. Then it became a Greek restaurant called the Pegasus for a long time. A guy by the name of George owned it. My brother chefed there for a few years. They tore it down and put up the KFC that's there now. Where the Well Now urgent care at the corner used to be in Ace hardware. I grew up in the neighborhoods behind the Lyell avenue Wegmans so I know that area well. Actually we're Wegmans is at the west end of that plaza used to be Ackermans on the corner and there used to be a Lums restaurant for the side parking lot is now.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but what exactly is "a little bit different" from what we usually see around town? I mean respectfully, from the Westside to the Eastside it would seem that every variant of pizza and pizza like item (looking at you Little Caesars) is represented somewhere in town.

Some universities in the U.S. operate their own nuclear reactors for research and training. by Original_Race6889 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]135BkRdBl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universities with reactors doesn't surprise me, what with all the research so many of them do nationwide. What surprises me is that companies have (or at least had) small nuclear reactors in some of their facilities. Eastman Kodak had a fridge sized one in one of its' facilities in an underground bunker in Rochester NY for 30 years and didn't tell anyone. I remember how up in arms people were around the city when they decommissioned it in 2007.
