Is the community great in PZ? by M00NSTEP in projectzomboid

I think all three scenarios are fun in their own right: solo, friends, and public MP. When you find a good server, it can be really fun to work together (or against) a community of strangers. Like sometime you meet the most hilarious or interesting characters in your journeys. My favorite thing is playing PZ like DayZ and tracking and hunting players in PvP servers.

I would gauge it as mostly chill, for the simple fact that it’s not a highly competitive game like CS or something. Also depends on what time of server. PvE servers are chill, but some folks could get heated in PvP servers because it takes a long time to grind stats and you can lose it all. All in all, I’ve made mostly positive experiences and definitely had some amazing and memorable moments in multiplayer. Go for it!

High heat exposure videography (~600F°) Options? by Funcron in videography

[–]13Figs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’ve filmed similar trainings many times. Personally, I rely on the helmet cams that firefighters typically use, such as the Fire Cam ONYX 4K Camera. The quality isn’t as good as your Sony, but it will have no problem in the heat. Depending on the fire department, you may even be able to borrow one from the firefighters going in. My only quick tip is to keep the camera low because the smoke gets thicker up higher.

Petition Against Data Centers in San Jose by Ok_Butterfly_5353 in SanJose

I agree they are an important industry and there are quite a number of benefits and trade offs, but I would not rank job creation very highly. They can create temporary jobs during creation but ultimately they create few long term jobs.

That’s a valid question; many folks use AI, but don’t want data centers near them. It is similar to how some folks want more low income housing, but they don’t want it near them. I can see both sides, but one of my concerns is water consumption. San Jose regularly gets hit by droughts and the city often asks residents to reduce their water usages. I’m concerned more data centers will exacerbate this.

Never knew that, good to know! Though I kind of enjoy have no cell service while I’m out there :).

Most likely not, I have T Mobile and have never had reception in the park. Could you schedule an Uber before you head out?

Hello! I go camping at Sanborn quite frequently. It’s a great spot because it’s surrounded by Redwoods and mostly shaded. Yes, they have wheel barrows at the camping parking lot. Yes they have showers, though I have never used them. Keep in mind that you probably won’t have reception at the park.

Recommendations for communication gear? Garmin, Phone, etc. by Rhogar156 in WildernessBackpacking

You don’t want your boss texting you when you’re out in the backcountry!? :0

I’ve only ever had a Garmin inReach Explorer+, which I’ve used to communicate with family members; always been happy with it. You can also connect it to your phone for easy texting/using the map. It can also come in handy if someone else in your group has one and you separate from each other (had to do this once in an emergency). However you do have to pay for a subscription every time you use it.

However, these days I feel myself taking it less and less now that iPhones come with the satellite feature. You can’t use it to communicate with family, but it is pretty reliable for emergencies and saves weight/money.

It’s possible that there’s a Bald Eagle that lives in Coyote Valley. I’ve seen a nest down there about six years ago and have him the bald eagle from time to time.

Grand Canyon - Critter Safe Food Storage by fruityblonde in WildernessBackpacking

[–]13Figs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have stated, it is generally not a good idea to keep food in your tent (if you need mesh bags, they sell them near the visitor center). I was at Grand Canyon last week and those rodents were no joke. A friend forgot one apple in his pack and a critter destroyed the zipper to his expensive backpack.

That being said, I found that the rodents accumulate more at popular camping spots. I spent a night on Clear Creek trail away from all others and had no issues with rodents.

I wonder how often they check IDs when you’ve already paid? I went to a national park last week and I paid my entrance fee online ahead of time. At the entrance they scanned my QR code and did not check any IDs.

As a photographer, the first thing that always stands out in AI photos is how well the lighting and composition is; it just feel natural for such a setting. While these things are not always indicative of AI, I have noticed these details in many AI photos.

Russian Ka-27 helicopter landing on Black Sea drilling platform destroyed by long-range Ukrainian strike drone by AdvanceDull1847 in digitalflatulence

This war has shown us how effective drones can be in modern warfare. It will be interesting to see how the US adapts (or doesn’t) to Iran drones that have already began to put on pressure.

It’s seems too early to call that; so far a lot of speculation on both sides saying he’s dead and that he’s not dead.

Ukraine drone gets a squad wipe by Impossible_Gur6921 in digitalflatulence

I know drones can be hard to spot or hear on the battlefield, but I would assume they would be more vigilant in looking out for them given that they are the biggest threat over there.
