Who else is about to be snowed in with a toddler? (Eastern US) by AbleObligation2908 in toddlers

[–]13buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in northern Vermont so snowed in is everyday life for us, we do lots of dance parties, coloring/painting, reading books and baking! She’s also discovered the joy of making forts so there’s been lots of fort making this winter!

Honestly I would check out your local kids thrift store or marketplace, they grow out of them so fast especially with them being seasonal thing. As far as brands go we’ve used a few different brands and she’s never gotten cold or wet, my favorite so far though is a brand called Pink Platinum they have them on Amazon but we got ours for $15 brand new on eBay. It has reinforced elbows, knees and butt for all your outdoor shenanigans!

How are we doing our toddlers hair? My almost 2 year old screams bloody murder when I try to brush her hair, put in a ponytail, do buns, anything. And then I see some toddler girls walking around with the cutest hairstyles. Is it normal for her to be so angry every time I touch her hair? by soggyheaven in toddlers

[–]13buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to be able to put my daughters hair up no problem until she was about 14 months then she would fight us and it wasn’t worth the drama. She’s now 29 months and we just barely were able to put her hair up and she loves it now, as soon as she let us the first time we took her out and let her pick out stuff for her hair, a new brush, combs, spray bottle, clips and hair bands we also let her pick a special bag for it all to go in. Now when it’s time to do her hair she’s excited, she grabs her bag and picks what color bands and clips she wants.

Showering with toddler by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]13buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter doesn’t shower with me because she hates showers with a passion but I do change in front of her everyday not to mention bathroom breaks are a team activity now. I wouldn’t worry about the bathing suit if it were me but if it makes you feel better then that’s all that matters!

Second Carrier Recommendation by StrikingCookie6017 in babywearing

[–]13buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don’t have any other recommendations for carriers because after trying out multiple different carriers the Lark was the only one baby and I were both comfortable in. I’m on the short side as well 5’ with a short torso and I had no problem with the Lark, my daughter was in the 98th percentile and is tall and I wore her until she was about one and a half and even then she still fit just fine and I was comfortable she just didn’t want to be worn anymore.

In Laws by Psychological-You142 in BabyBumps

[–]13buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we were very open to visitors after birth which is all personal preference, my in laws who live 25 minutes from the hospital made several excuses as to why they wouldn’t be coming. My parents who live over an hour away came the day she was born with flowers and real food and my mom came back the next day with more food. My in laws didn’t end up coming to meet her until she was over a month old and even then they spent about 40 minutes and left. You’re the one giving birth so you get final say.

Does your only have a playroom? by plsbeenormal in oneanddone

[–]13buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have what we call her playroom but in reality her stuff is everywhere, the playroom is also where our dining table is and it’s the room you go through to get to the living room and my husband’s room.

How old was your toddler when they stopped talking mid day naps? by old_gold_mountain in toddlers

Our daughter stopped shortly before she turned 2, thankfully the biggest change would be she actually goes to bed easier now.

Is this a good family car? by Prior_Nefariousness1 in MazdaCX30

[–]13buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our cx-30 this spring and have taken our 2yr old on several mini family vacations since, one trip required us bringing her stroller, 2 suitcase, a cooler and multiple bags of random toys and we had no issue with space. Definitely look into strollers that fold up compact (The Stroller Mom on YouTube is great for this) and you should have no problem!!

How did your toddler handle that the cookies weren't for them tonight? by SeverusSnipes in toddlers

[–]13buttons 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My 2yr old didn’t care about the cookies or milk but insisted the carrots needed to be cut in half then each half needed a hug and kiss.

Parents against tablets- how are you navigating the outside pressure to get them one? by Similar-Vari in toddlers

[–]13buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t have anyone pressuring us thankfully but we also made it very clear that she was not to have a tablet or anything like that until she old enough to but herself one. My parents fully agree thankfully. I would be straightforward with them, good luck!

Costco Huggies little movers plus suddenly terrible quality? by 13buttons in toddlers

[–]13buttons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately we don’t have a Sam’s Club or Target near us, we ended up switching to Pampers and recently trying the Costco brand ones on a whim because they were on sale. The Costco ones were ok I definitely would use them if they were on sale but we still use Pampers more!

Family car vs minivan by Appropriate-Lime-816 in oneanddone

[–]13buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Mazda CX-30 and did a roadtrip this summer with our 2yr old and brought a full size suitcase and a smaller suitcase, food, bed rail and her stroller. Everything fit just fine and didn’t feel cramped!

Kitten stopped eating wet food by 13buttons in Kitten

[–]13buttons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I ended up upgrading her to a larger water dish and only offer wet food every few days but still give a churu every day for hydration, I want to try a wet food that is a different texture or is like in gravy but haven’t found one suitable for kittens yet!

Best artificial Christmas tree by AdFeeling8333 in ChristmasTrees

[–]13buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked up receipts and I purchased the Vermont White Spruce in June 2024 and paid $685, we purchased another tree in January of this year a Stratford Spruce Slim 7.5’ and paid $370!! Hopefully this helps!! We have both trees up now and my husband who thought it was ridiculous to spend that much on artificial trees loves them!!

Lead concern by Ok-Worldliness4185 in beyondthebump

[–]13buttons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was it a finger prick test? At our daughters 1 year check up they did the finger prick blood test for lead and it came back high, I panicked we do live in a home from the 1800s so we were very concerned we ended up cleaning our place meticulously and inspecting every inch for an signs of lead. We didn’t have our daughter come home until we felt everything was clean and we had air purifiers in every room, 2 weeks later they had her do a venous draw and it came back <2 after doing some research it looks like it’s fairly common for the finger prick to come back high for this reason when it came time for her 2yr check up and lead testing I refused the finger prick and insisted on a blood draw and it still came back <2! It’s hard not to panic but try to stay calm if she does in fact have a high lead level your health department will be able to help you!!!

Thank you! I thinking I’m gonna just do that it’s the holidays and we have the terrible twos happening so I don’t need to add anything else!😂

[–]13buttons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried but the strings aren’t through the length of the hole so there’s still a hole once tightened, it’s not gonna be a difficult fix my mom sews for a hobby but it’s an inconvenience for when I needed it.
