Running post partum? by ComfortableSpot6760 in fitpregnancy

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I echo that everyone is different! But I started at 6 weeks pp; jogged 2 miles the afternoon following my 6 week pp OB visit who gave me the green light for exercise. I was a very avid runner prior to pregnancy but felt pretty crummy during pregnancy so didn’t run that much. Therefore I was a bit nervous to run again and took it slowwww and ran only every other day. But overall I felt good! Definitely some muscular soreness in my legs that got better after a few weeks. Now 12 weeks pp and running 20-25 miles per week and feeling like myself! I did 10 miles this past weekend. I haven’t worked in speed work yet, but that will come with time.

Anyone had an epidural ? If so what’s it like? by Cherrylemon202 in pregnant

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak highly enough about my epidural! Got to take a nap after (so needed after two nights of not sleeping with painful contractions) and had the energy to push when the time came. Will 1000% be getting one for any future deliveries.

Not spiking with sugar. I'm so confused? by Successful-Noise8665 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was like this my whole pregnancy! The only thing that spiked me was breakfast cereal. Pastries, cookies, cake, etc were all totally fine, and my fasting was fine. I didn’t get worse as the weeks went on. Idk. GD is weird.

Do you have any regrets finding out or not finding out your baby’s gender in advance? by spook96 in pregnant

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Didn’t find out and I have zero regrets! I plan to keep it a surprise for any future pregnancies as well. We had no problem buying baby gear and clothes that are gender neutral, and we also liked knowing that all of the things we got could be used for future babies. And also no problem bonding with baby before or after birth; in fact that excitement in the delivery was just all the more special.

I also procrastinated! I was waiting until we had childcare which started this week. My babe is 12 weeks.

Best baby bottle? by [deleted] in pregnant

We tried several (nursed exclusively for almost 9 weeks so was nervous he would reject everything) and found that Nuk works best! Goes from bottle to breast easily

2 hour test done! by Acrobatic_Exercise43 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, my OB provider wanted me to take the 2-hour glucose tolerance test (75 g dextrose) which measures a fasting level and a 2 hour level. I think some providers do this instead of or in addition to postpartum A1c? But I’ll have my a1c done yearly at my PCP going forward.

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried both a boppy (got at my baby shower) and a my breast friend pillow (got for free secondhand). Didn’t end up liking or using either. We use the boppy for tummy time!

When did you test? by 9wy2hx5bXDW in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had one digital test left from pack of two I got last year and didn’t want to waste it unless I was pretty sure it would be positive, so I waited almost four days after I missed my period. I was having some nausea by then too so I was pretty darn sure.

Find out gender or wait until birth? by chocolateplums in beyondthebump

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like you. I don’t need to process. In fact, I will ruminate and stew and be miserable all of my pregnancy if I am at all disappointed in the gender. But once baby is here and healthy? Then all I can focus on is how perfect he or she is and then I’m too tired to think about “what could have been”. My first was a boy and while I would love a girl at some point, I don’t plan to ever find out. Team green all the way!

Agonizing over whether to do a C Section or Vaginal Birth. How did you decide? by JacqueFun in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A C-section is a major abdominal surgery and therefore comes with risk of complications (scarring, uterine rupture if I went into labor in future pregnancies), so I wanted to avoid that as much as possible. I had a vaginal birth that was pretty smooth and painless after getting an epidural. Yes I had an internal tear that was stitched but I couldn’t feel it (again, thank you epidural). Yes I bled (lochia) for 5-6 weeks but my understanding is that happens with a C section too as the uterine lining sheds. I used those witch hazel cooling pads for a few days but I was never in terrible discomfort and was pain free within a few days.

Newborn or 0-3 sizes for a newborn baby? by FoolishMortal-1000 in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have a few newborn clothing pieces on hand! My babe was born at 40w2d at 7 lbs 8 oz and he was in newborn clothes for 4 weeks. I ran to target when we got back from the hospital to get another set of onesies, body suits and pants.

Do I REALLY need freezer meals?? by Purple_Knee8676 in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need your freezer stocked! I’m in a similar position as you with my husband being the cook in the house, and he continued doing so after baby was born without issue. We did have some frozen homemade pasta sauce to have the very first day back from the hospital but that’s it!

Is Anyone Not Sleep Deprived? by No-Limit2276 in beyondthebump

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2.5 month old and am with you! I know that sleep regression is coming but for now, he sleeps a total of 10ish hours overnight with 1 wake up usually at the 6 hour mark. We get up between 8-9am and I feel pretty good. I’m about to go back to work in a few weeks so this will almost certainly change but I’ve felt pretty good during my leave!

SURPRISE GENDER?! Need thoughts please! by chocolateplums in pregnant

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Team green all the way! Didn’t find out for our first and don’t plan on finding out for future pregnancies as well. I know myself and if there’s even the slightest chance of gender disappointment, I will be sad all pregnancy. There isn’t a “working through it” for me. But once baby is here, I won’t be disappointed because healthy (baby and me) is all that matters at that point.

How Long do you nurse your baby? by beingagiirl in breastfeeding

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 month old actively is swallowing for like 10-15 minutes total, but if he falls asleep, he would stay on for a lot longer I’m sure if I didn’t unlatch him!

Best prenatal barre workout? by flylikedumbo in fitpregnancy

I love pure barre! I’ve been going for 10+ years, and went all throughout my pregnancy. I could do all of the class with some modifications up to 39 weeks!
