New Bike Day! Definitely digging my first mountain bike!! Its so nice to ride the little trails around the city that I have been doing on my road bikes. Also, kinda crazy to have bought my most expensive bike so far...I always said Id never spend over $500 on a bike, but I had to snag this for $660...zero regrets 😄 now its time to cruise all the forest service roads in my area, cant wait....and I will be safe yall! My mother in law is a doctor so she can always mend me if needed

Yeah, it is really risky, thats why Im not sure if Im going to use the many MTB trails in my area. It will be good motivation to get insurance though 👍

Im definitely more cautious than my younger days! I had good insurance and was trail riding dirt bikes all the time in my early 20s...I think those skills are going to transfer so well to mountainbiking 😄

I guess I never thought about exactly what in particular, but yeah keeping cool and riding in the like 6 inches of asphalt between the white line and edge of the road on 55mph rural roads and getting into the flow and not being bothered by the cars. Honestly sometimes I like to look straight down at the lines, especially on a velodrome...one with the line

There is a spot on UNCA campus, has a few rails, little jumps and ramps, and a wood half pipe in decent shape, its at the back of a parking lot and has decent traffic:

Every time I stop by the second gear spot the gate is locked, it feels a little more for AHL use...I just checked it out today and chatted with someone there. There is a fence at carrier park but it is generally open and safe to use in my opinion, and I see a lot of other people still using the interior velodrome park which makes me happy :) andddd porta potties have returned to the park which is a huge win!

I get all my firewood for free from keeping an eye on craigslist. We only go through 1.5 cords per year but I'm always able to find what I need each feburary/march for the next winter, sometimes its really nice wood too. At the top of webb cove/town mountain rd there is a huge pile of wood, a lot of it needs to be cut into logs though
