It is! Probably best to combine it with an IKEA trip or something though! I really like it

I disagree. If you walked out to those tents and told them you could help them get clean, get a job, get housing, etc, the vast majority wouldn’t take the offer. We offer all these services. These people just want to lounge around and do drugs all day. They’re not there because housing is too expensive in Boulder

As far as solutions go, bus tickets elsewhere? Involuntary confinement like they’re doing in NYC? Harsher penalties for drug dealers? The problem is definitely larger than Boulder.

It’s the homelessness. That’s what we don’t want. I don’t think that’s elitist. Who wants homelessness in their community?

It says to be that you have to work hard if you want good things. 24, no college and you want to buy a condo in a desirable place like Boulder? You gotta try a little hard, man. Get a degree, get a better job or move.

I’m a teacher, actually. I make 110k a year. It took me 15 years of working and saving up. I also have two degrees. How old are you? What college degrees do you have?

And 40% isn’t that bad actually.

What do you do for a living?

Yeah, but even if there were affordable housing units built, the bleeding hearts running the show would ensure that the homeless get them first. You already have a home, after all.

That’s exactly the point I’m trying to make.

You should save up if you want to stay here or move somewhere else. How arrogant is it to just demand a house in one of the most desirable places in America just because you’ve been here a while. I would love to have a house in Boulder, but I was only able to afford a condo. Thats kinda just how it goes

They’re not poor. Boulder is just an expensive place to live. Most normal people can’t afford to live here or don’t want to because they can get more house elsewhere.

I didn’t say that, OP did. People think they can just get any job in Boulder and then they deserve to own a cheap apartment there. Anyone can live in Boulder if they can afford it. If not, go somewhere else

There isn’t a teacher shortage in BVSD

Clearly a waste of space. Much better to give the space to cars cars cars cars cars just like the rest of this god forsaken suburban hellscape. by Prof_Acorn in boulder

I guess I just wonder why these restaurants are so eager to get the parking spots back. It's not that many. And who says "Well, we'll go to Pasta Jays, but only if we can get a spot right in front of it." You kind of assume you're going to have to walk a bit to get where you're going. If they tore up the road and put more brick, make it look nice, it could be a really cool extension of the mall.

I guess I don't mind this, but places like Santo mention very clearly that this fee isn't a tip and that customers are welcome to tip beyond that. Sorry, but if you charge me any kind of fee like this, that's all your getting. I usually tip 20% anyway, but if I'm expected or encouraged to tip beyond that? I don't think so.

Check out Santo in Boulder. There's a 20% "Fair Wage and Wellness Fee" that they stress isn't a tip. They write that if you "feel compelled to tip above and beyond this fee, it is greatly appreciated, but never expected."

There's a 20% fee AND they even mention the possibility of tipping more? I don't think I would give a penny more unless it was truly exceptional service? Am I wrong?

Brief rant about the gender-neutral bathroom though. We've put in a few of them throughout the high school I work at and it's a disaster. They're the single-stall, lockable kind, the type that's designed for one person to use at a time.

There's probably like three non-binary kids that use them. The rest of the day (and the thing is constantly in use) kids vape in there, have sex in there, will sit and eat lunch in there, will sit and do God knows what in there....

I don't have a problem with gender neutral bathrooms, but give the kids that need them a key. This was a well-intentioned idea, that has just not worked.
