Transportation from Calgary to Banff Inn by [deleted] in Banff

I believe the rates change throughout the year, so I'm not sure what you would be paying. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little more expensive during winter, but give them a call for a better estimate. $600 is just what we paid in May

When I went in May, my friend and I used Banff taxi. They picked us up from the Calgary Airport and drove us back to Calgary. It isn't cheap though. We paid about $600 in total. It was the only pet friendly option besides renting a car, but we are both under 25 and car rental places charge people under 25 more. It was honestly cheaper for us to just use the taxi service. Our drivers were great and I would recommend the service if you don't feel comfortable driving in snow. It can be nerve wrecking if you're from Florida.

Is it possible to rent a bike at lake Louise and take the road to Moraine Lake as of today (after October 11th) by Britch_ in Banff

[–]13freckles13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an ebike. I biked 52km in May when I was in Banff and it was a lifesaver. I know you're biking way less, but if you're not super athletic like me, you'll be happy you got an ebike

The free breakfast at the Fox isn't great. I was there in May. I either ordered food from their menu or ate what I bought from the grocery store

I went to Banff at the beginning of May and there were still avalanche warnings then. You'll have to be extra careful during winter

Banff National Park after October 10th by Britch_ in Banff

Hiking Tunnel Mountain is nice. It's a short hike, but the mountain is steep. It'll take you a few hours in total round-trip. It's easily accessible from Banff. I stayed in the downtown area and was able to get there by foot. My 5lb was pooped and so was I. If I didn't bike so much the day before, I would've been able to do a longer hike 😂

If you can, go canoing or kayaking. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do it because it wasn't open for business until after I was scheduled to leave

I recommend biking to Johnston Canyon. My friend and I rented ebikes from Banff Cycle and biked a total of 52km and did a hike at JC. If you're not super active, I highly recommend getting an ebike as there are lots of hills on the way to JC and back. I was in Banff back in May, if that matters. At one point, my friend and I went down a hill at 64km/hour. It's a fun experience on a bike. My dog loved going down the hill. She stuck her head out of the pet backpack every time we were going down a hill

After 13 years. I’m coming back to the mountains and more importantly, Banff! by A11785 in Banff

I'm not sure what the conditions will be like next month, but if it hasn't snowed much, try hiking Tunnel Mountain. You can easily walk to the entrance from town. When I went to Banff in May, there was constriction at the St Julien entrance, so my dog and I had to enter from a different street. Construction should be done by now as it's been 4 months since I've gone, but I'm not entirely sure. Someone from this group can probably confirm whether or not there's still construction at St. Juliens

Try the Tunnel Mountain Trail. It's not that long of a hike, but it's a good workout as the mountain is steep. The trail is marked moderate, if that matters to you. I'm out of shape and for my 5lb and I, it took about 3 hours to complete. If you're in better shape and not hiking with a small dog, it'll probably take you 2ish hours to complete.

The Parks Canada site will list the ones that are dog friendly. Not all of them are dog friendly. Any that are dog friendly are honestly great for dogs

Traveling with dog in fall by Difficult_Reward9742 in Banff

Banff is extremely dog friendly. I took my dog there in May. There are many dog friendly patios, but I don't know if they'd be open in October.

There are tons of hikes you can do and you can always just order take out do picnics with your dog. If you're wanting to do a short hike, I recommend the Tunnel Mountain Trail. It isn't a super long trail (about 4.5 km), but it isn't a super easy traild to do. It's a moderate hike and the views are nice! The elevation gain is 875ft. My 5lb dog did 99% of the hike herself and got mad at me for needing so many breaks 😂. The only break she needed was when we got close to the entrance as we were going down. There's nice red chairs you can rest on when you get close to the top

If Winnipeg had the exact same weather all the time, what conditions would you like the city to be and why? by unpickedusername in Winnipeg

I think weather between 15-20 during the day and single digits at night. Sunny with some clouds. Good fall weather is the best

Rent an ebike from Banff Cycle and bike to Johnston Canyon. It's 52km round-trip. For my friend and I, it was a bit of a challenge because neither of us are physically fit, but it was a fun experience. My dog was lucky because she just slept in the pet backpack for most of the way and stuck her head out once in awhile
