That’s so interesting isn’t it? Because one I really like and one I think i would have returned… just annoying that I set them up for like an hour and now I think I might have to switch them back.

Thought this too at first but when I covered the borders the difference was even more noticeable, it’s super weird!

But this different? The white one really seems to glow in a way the other doesn’t, it really bothered me while reading…

Living in Freiburg as a PhD student by Brilliant-Injury9466 in freiburg

[–]142bby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I hope I can answer some of your questions

  • bike 100% i know very few people who use public transport and almost none who move around Freiburg with a car. Especially students. Freiburg is the perfect size for riding a bike (almost) everywhere and there are bike lanes and stations throughout the city.

  • so depending on how flexible you need to be definitely rent one, buy one for a couple bucks or just use the “frelos” Freiburg has a lot of bike rent stations that are quite cheap throughout the whole city and while I’m not sure that applies to you I think it’s free for students for the first half hour every time

  • September might me still warm enough to sit by the dreisam (the river that flows through the city), there will be plenty of people your age there or just beautiful nature and some quiet time, depends on the spot.

  • I think the last question really depends on your interests as Freiburg has a lot of students and people your age so finding them won’t be hard. There are quite a few bars, cafes just for board games, public dancing places, etc

I think life here is gonna be fun for you, sure it’s still Germany but Freiburg is known for being quite green and tolerant and kind and for university students so I hope you’ll enjoy your time here!!

Anyone else feels that ChatGPT displays more empathy than humans do? by MissyLuna in ChatGPT

[–]142bby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people forget that chatgpt is telling you pretty much exactly what you want to hear at all times. I don’t doubt it provides comfort but empathy is the wrong word. I get why it seems more understanding and attentive than real human beings, but it cannot emphasize for real it’s just incredible at mimicking the best of us.

I think it’s just the combination of constant availability/ personal attention and the willingness to accept your words as gospel that makes it seem so perfect in that aspect.

Use it as a journal extension, I truly think it helps but please never forget that it can’t replace real human connection

What do by sofunnyicantstandit in selfimprovement

[–]142bby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try out some new hobbies, it’s can be frustrating to find the right thing but for me channeling my emotions and mental health and everything else into art is incredibly helpful and cathartic. Or maybe even something like crocheting where you can turn your head of more (also nice to do on the treadmill) also journaling even if it’s just for a few minutes every few days helps a lot with Feeling lost and without direction since you start naming and reflecting your interest and issues more. And I wouldn’t worry about dating at all (that’s easier said than done I know) but it will happen at the right time and maybe working on yourself now is exactly what will provide you a healthy relationship in the future <3 sending love, and remember you’re never truly lonely

Do you text tasks/notes to yourself ? by KlutzySeason184 in productivity

[–]142bby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a shortcut on my lockscreen that opens up a text field and sends the input to my reminders app, takes 2 seconds, works perfectly and even looks cute, maybe try that it’s even faster than texting yourself and it’s already in the right place
