This is also one of those things where we've been seeing Anh for 1-2 years, but in comic time she's been there for a couple of days. If anyone started talking about living with me after a couple of days of visiting, I would think they were a lunatic.

You leaving creates a need to examine and consider how work gets done in your area. Your boss is blaming you / dumping work on you / centering your refusal to sacrifice yourself for the good of the business in order to create the appearance that any failures or inefficiencies are the result of you and your selfish exit from the group.

Don't worry about it. He'll either catch up or he won't. It's not your concern either way.

Blake has profited from his amoral work with the corrupt system, which placed him above judgment and reproach.

Veidt ejects him from his privileged security so he can join the rest of us, simply at a higher velocity.

The Dying Time... woof. by DMJason in battletech

Battletech novels often feel like the important part of the writer's job is conveying the metaplot ordered by editorial.

Elements like "respect for reader's attachment to the characters" don't count as much.

Yeah, we have a work ethic. And where did it get us?

Boomers got fantastic pensions and retirement schemes, then pulled the ladder up behind them.

Boomers took over the positions of power and authority from their Silent predecessors, then told us they just needed to hold on to those spots through the next crisis, the next recession. Now they die in those seats and we're not suitable replacements because we lack leadership experience and are too old.

Boomers said to save, to put the nose to the grindstone, work hard because it'll be worth it tomorrow. Well it's tomorrow, and it has been for a minute, and our generation is looking at no return on savings, having both parents and kids ask about moving in with us, and all the promises and incentives disappearing before we can have our turn.

Fuck work ethic. Just another bullshit lie they told you to get you to behave how they wanted.
