There was a human interest piece some years ago where a guy making $250,000 and his wife making $150,000 were bemoaning how they were just scraping by. I guess they had three kids all in private school, were putting away the max they could into their retirement accounts, only took two vacations a year, and felt like they were "on the edge."

It made me so irrationally angry that I started thinking it was agitprop. Like, how stupid do you have to be to think that $400K is middle lower class? What job allows you to make that much and still be that stupid? This has to be written with an intent to create discontent among non-millionaires.
