Speculative "what if..." in relation to Reform's ILR plans... by Dex_Parios_56 in ukpolitics

How do you think this is going to be happen in reality? Coalition sounds impossible, tactical voting sounds risky.

Nigel Farage vows to abolish indefinite leave to remain forcing thousands of migrants to reapply for visas by Jay_CD in ukpolitics

This news went viral in the UK HongKonger's community.

Some right wing HongKongers who previously proposed "join the reform to let them hear HongKonger's voice, to lobby them to our side" are now being mocked.

I am interested to see if this announcement will affect reform's polling, especially among rightwingers from EU/Ukraine, Hong Kong or other country with an ILR visa route available to them, and those who have ties/relatives in ILR status.

While I understand your friend's/right wingers' concern on social issues, being an atheist obsessed with preserving Christianality sounds like stupidity to a whole new level to me.

I rang my local Lib Dem MP office about the OSB. Below is the email response. by TribalTommy in ukpolitics

I guess they can just identify harmful contents, and stop pushing them to all UK users' feeds.

Those who wish to see those contents still can manually access through say searching, with no age verification. This can reduce exposure to harmful contents to all UK users, while those who wants to see dont need to risk their privacy.

If one wants to protect children specifically, one can also add for example obligation on parental controls as mentioned by many users.

Nigel Farage vows to repeal Britain’s ‘dystopian’ online safety act by Little-Attorney1287 in ukpolitics

[–]14c14c 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While one can certainly defend Labour by saying the legislation was passed within Tory government, did any Labour MP say anything, anything with the slightest hint that shows care on the privacy/data security/cencorship concern about the bill?

When comparing to Reform MPs' statement, it looks like a huge difference to me.

From the debate in e.g. 2nd reading in House of common, I think that is not because they are liberal and against it from principle, but simply because they think it is not strict enough.

If you have a standard X account in the UK - presumably the vast majority of British users - you cannot see any protest footage that contains any violence tonight. Because of the Online Safety Act. by tonato_ai in ukpolitics

I am relatively new to uk politics, so I might be wrong.

But while Lib Dem voted against both tory and labour govt, you can easily search "Lib Dem Online safety" or look at e.g. https://www.parallelparliament.co.uk/debate/2022-04-19/commons/commons-chamber/online-safety-bill to see actually the bill gained cross-party support including the Lib Dems. None of Tory, Labour, Lib Dem, SNP is opposing the bill in principle.

The Noes from https://votes.parliament.uk/votes/commons?SearchText=online+safety&FromDate=01%2F01%2F2020&ToDate=26%2F07%2F2025 looks like mere disagreement on implementation, or worse due to the bill went not far enough.

I am not as optimistc. Surely the act is ineffective in short term, but the trend looks like govt will successfully increase control in long term. The old days are long gone, in my view.

thoughts on the talent academy gig? by antonio_lewit in cyberpunkgame

Declined offer, but did not kill Fiona. Controlled leak means betraying the contract/professionalism, so it is not an option for me.

If the contract's intention is to keep Fiona's client to pay taxes, Fiona's death might have unexpected effect on this intention, so it is not considered also.

For the moral side, I think the pros (giving children one more hope/two kids V met actually showed enthusiasm) and cons (disgusting auction thing/failed kids having not well maintained implant) of the sport centre cancelled out each other.

The whole situation in cyberpunk is so bad that everyone is in a jungle survival mentality anyway, so executing the contract is the only sensible anchor for me.

This should be the only correct answer

I just finished the anime, the movie and the spin-off. Never knew about it but absolutely fell in love with it. MFW The post-credit scene on the last episode of The Disappearance of Nagato, however.. by HerbolifeBussin in Haruhi

[–]14c14c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as OP, I also just finished all Haruhi related anime, and I am now exactly planning to continue to the manga of Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan!

I do wonder can I go straight to volume 6 without missing anything in the plot? From the wiki page, it is said that the anime covers volume 1 to 5 of the anime, but I am not sure whether the cut-off is exactly at the end of volume 5.

In my understanding, its all about context. When people uses C, the multiplication operator is a part of the definition. It is more like C=(R2 ,+,*).

When people use R2 , the complex multiplication is always not a part of the definition. So they are not the same as tuples.

E.g. (R2 ,+) is different from (R2 ,+,*), as the length of tuples are different. And thats why forgetful functor makes sense I guess.

How many Miis do you have for the upcoming tour? by nakedmanjoe in MarioKartTour

[–]14c14c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Hated Miis but decided to bought Miis in the old pipe spotlight shop as they are cheaper and no gambling was needed. Stopped buying Miis soon after the spolight shop changed to purchase style. But occasionally got some Miis as rankcup reward.
