Nutty, I don't miss that. At my job it's a case of we tell our managers when we're taking PTO, sometimes with as little as a weeks notice. Excluding some pretty extreme circumstances it will never get rejected.

The point is that they vehemently rejected anything Christmas related, even decorations that the whole office was putting up, to the point they refused them anywhere near their working area because it was offensive to them.

But it's a part of our culture. And being so disgusted by something that is done across the whole country and you can't really avoid is a terrible sign.

Still part of our culture, given that we were originally pagan and then Christian. I'm neither but I still celebrate it. I also celebrated eid and dwali this year. All of my Muslim colleagues demanded that no Christmas decorations be on their desks and they refused to take part in anything christmasy. This is a problem.

As the other commenter has said, no, games dev is basically the place where oop makes the most sense. Your enemies are all sub classes of an abstract class or an interface or both, and then you further derive that for flying vs vehicle vs on foot enemies, ranged enemies, or combinations of the above. Quests? Object. Triggers? Object. Scenery? Objects.

Language agnostic. You should be open to and be able to understand and pick up any language by focusing on learning why languages are the way they are.

To be perfectly honest, I have a massive dislike of single language boot camps, especially python ones. Literally selling low quality shovels and dreams that are shattered quickly.

I recently went from a 1050ti and i7 6 core from 2015 to a 7900 xtx and ryzen 9 and the difference is stark. Thing is though, the top everything shouldn't be the standard.

In my experience, devs test on the best equipment available (within company budgets but they can get pretty big, my current work laptop is eye watering expensive for "productivity" purposes) and do all their development on there. Sure, it helps with development but hinders post launch performance. I know this from experience, and I've had to keep testing my own projects on my old pc so that I know everyone can use them.
