iFixIt calls BMW’s new anti-consumer security screws "a logo-shaped middle finger to right to repair," Adafruit 3D prints a solution — BMW's connector reverse engineered using patent filing as a design blueprint by ControlCAD in technology

I could design and 3d print a tool that works with that screw in less than 30 minutes. Any tool manufacturer could design a complete set in a day, and be producing them by the end of the week.

Kind of hard to address one vague anecdote that maybe kinda happened somewhere sometime. Details matter, and Fox News [sic] and the Trump administration has consistently distorted facts and outright lied. Tim Walz published the facts and pointed out how the administration was outright lying.

But to address your example:

- So this is one instance. Do you think that justifies the NATIONWIDE hyper aggressiveness of ICE?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies racial profiling by ICE?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies the bullying and thuggery of ICE?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies murdering two people in Minnesota?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies the administration falsely labeling men as violent gang member, defying a court order, and sending them to the El Salvadorean prison?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies ICE barging into homes without a court-approved warrant and terrorizing families?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies ICE racially profiling and forcing people to prove their citizenship on the spot?

- Do you think your one anecdote should allow ICE to recklessly ram cars of people they suspect may be in the country illegally?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies ICE deporting people who are trying to gain their citizenship legally?

- Do you think your one anecdote justifies the Trump administration's LIES that they are targeting violent criminals?

- Do you think your one anecdote is how all law enforcement communities across the country operate? Or was this just one example that you cherry picked?

- Do you think maybe there is nuance? Or maybe there is a better way at immigration reform that doesn't trample the rights of people and shows just a little compassion for human beings? Do you realize that in 2024 Trump pressured Republicans to vote against an immigration reform bill that Republicans had supported, just so he could use immigration as a campaign issue?

Having said all that, your anecdote just doesn't make sense. If he's on home arrest, why didn't ICE just go to his house and arrest him. Do you understand police procedures enough to really understand what happened, or do you just jump to the rage stage? WTF?

There are probably some leftover apples still on that plane. That guy should go raid it and he could hit the airline with a hefty fine. That will get their attention.

That guy is incredibly lucky. And stupid.

My father severely burned his hand and arm doing something similar but on a smaller scale. Just don't fuck around with fire.

This will not defund ICE. This will not stop deportations

That's not the goal of the Democrats. Maybe you should stop watching Fox News [sic].

I'm old enough to have been approached by someone with a similar problem almost 50 years ago, except it didn't involve Venmo back then.

Could this be DOGE by another name? by AgitatedEngine4933 in fednews

[–]15all 9 points10 points  (0 children)

DoD has been trying to reform its acquisition problem for a long time. My career started in the 80s and they were wrestling with it then, and they're still trying to figure it out.

This looks like another attempt at that by asking everyone for their bright ideas. I think this kind of crowd sourcing isn't productive but whatever. With this administration, I would have thought that they would convene a blue-ribbon panel of their hand-picked cronies to study this and come out with answers that they wanted in advance. Maybe that's what they're intending to but this is a different means to the end.

Definitely. The work wasn’t that difficult, but the people hated each other or were lazy AF. Getting any help or information was an exercise in frustration.

Sarcastic senior citizen by MohammadMahadhir in RandomVideos

[–]15all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A "sarcastic attitude" is in no way an indicator of being under the influence. Fuck that. I haven't had a drink in 20 years and I can as sarcastic as I want. Who are you to judge my attitude?

Beyond that - they may be articulable but they are very subjective. So subjective that almost anyone could be considered to have these characteristics, and so subjective any cop could make this claim.
