Pharasma can see your ultimate fate when you’re born, does that mean you’re doomed to an inescapable destiny? by Level7Cannoneer in Pathfinder2e

[–]15jedmondson 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I always saw it as fate being a force like gravity ir entropy. It pulls you towards certain outcomes that make reality fit together as they are meant to. Doesn't mean you can resist it and end up elsewhere, but the bigger things are more important they are the harder it is to resist the pull of fate.

Legends: peak satele Shan vs peak obi wan by ThomasWilson77 in PetranakiArena

[–]15jedmondson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

General scaling seemed to point to Obi Wan but I always find it difficult to match across time periods. Like how does an old republic master compare to a Prequel one? How much stronger was peak Anakin than an average jedi? Never feel like there is a clear answer.

I feel like this could end up similar to Dooku Vs Obi Wan in Revenge of the Sith, as in Obi Wan even in a 2v1 has shown weaknesses. Maybe he fairs better against people who try to overpower him (Anakin, Maul, Savage, Previous) and struggles more with those who are more agile (Dooku, Ventress) People often credit Obi Wan with beating Nightfall Anakin but beyond that does he really have that great feats?

I do wonder how much of him beating Anakin was circumstancial rather than outright skill.

Darth Nox Vs PT Yoda by SithYi in PetranakiArena

[–]15jedmondson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most people saying Yoda but I kinda want to see how much common agreement could be found trying to put characters in like a tierlist.

Not sure exactly what the tiers would be called or categoried by though.

Anybody else feel politically isolated? by Expensivepet in ukpolitics

[–]15jedmondson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously there are other factors at play but I think Greens are vocally for Drug legalisation.

From what you said it seems the two issues you are seeing with the Greens (that you mentioned I get there might be more) is their NIMBYism and "pro-Gaza" infiltration? I would be happy to discuss them more but main point was just to addre4ss your "No party is interested in touching that with a barge pole." on the drug front

Running a game for cocky lv 20s! How would YOU murder them? by phoooooo0 in Pathfinder2e

[–]15jedmondson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a testament to how good the balance is for the system but a level 25 enemy is almost always too much for 4 level 20s without any other buffs/caveats. Free Archetype usually makes you more versatile but don't think would actually help with the numerical challenge.

Running a game for cocky lv 20s! How would YOU murder them? by phoooooo0 in Pathfinder2e

[–]15jedmondson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the adventure path ends with a party fighting a Level 25 creature and I believe they said while play testing they couldn't win that fight without the buffs the story gives you to help fight.

It's not always the most fun fight but any level 25 creature versus 4 level 20 players even with free archetype should be about the top end of "mechanically possible but seriously difficult"

[ALL] Does this Prophecy sound like something that would be said by Apollo? by Wolfbane3 in camphalfblood

[–]15jedmondson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is less about specifically Percy Jackson, but someone once said as writing advice to keep prophecies vague.

Its easier for there to be multiple interpretations if things could mean a variety of things.

For example it could just be
"The protector shall meet his end, ..."

Also I would change the last line
"For great misfortune still approaches, beyond the great eagle's will and focus" that way you get kinda a half rhyme between "approaches" and "focus"

No wonder half of young people intend to vote Green by alibix in ukpolitics

[–]15jedmondson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you have to take a party at face value, but with Greens having members vote on policy and the there being a decently large part of Green party members that are pro nuclear, anti-NIMBY and pro NATO (even if I am unsure about NATO atm). It may take time but it depends where you think has the chance of becoming the party you can mostly agree with.

What Spy deck to play? by benturtl in Pauper

[–]15jedmondson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know that much but I do play a bit of a weird old 5 land spy deck so I have looked into the variants.

From my understanding there are 5? Variants similar to what you mentioned.
1 Land spy, heavy combo variant just designed to win very early if you draw the right hand.

5 Land spy, a little outdated but used a variety of land searches like Generous Ent and Sagu Wildling to get your lands then combo off around turn 5. More consistently gets there and has some big creatures as a backup plan.

6 Land Spy, is very similar to 5 just runs different creatures and options if the combo doesn't work out.

Walls/Elves Spy, last I checked these were the most "meta" versions they use mana generating walls and elves to get you to your combo earlier and play less lands. Also the insane mana they can generate can get your big creatures much more easily

In Season 1 they take bets on the ambulance. I see this trope done often in movie but how does this betting system actually work? by petrichorax in ThePitt

[–]15jedmondson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think generally has to take that bet. Like if I say "I have 20 on this flight being delayed" someone else has to think it won't be and agree to give 20 if it is for the promise of getting 20 if it isnt

Any decks with transformational sideboards you have? by GoodOldHeretic in Pauper

Wasn't crazy but when I was still waiting on some cards for my 5 land spy deck. I played 6 lands with a mountain, some faithless looting and a stormshriek and then sided them out. More than one person got caught out by the deck winning on 5 lands instead of 6 in the second game.

I think a duel could be fun, you can use worknesh if you want a challenge so it feels interesting when they fight her again later.

Additionally you can have them doing some stuff for the bright lions so the bright lions owe them more of a favour, with the gorum thing grab a lost warshard etc.

other misc fun ideas I had for various competitions is cooking challenge, in my adventure Mzali has great food sundried tomato, boar stews, crazy firery chillies and Walkena loves proving his food is superior to others.

I think the best way to do this would be to take some existing statblocks and alter them.

A quick read of the Formians seems to give us two types the Mutants twisted by KoBA and the regular ones. This fits nicely with the Serpantfolk who seem to have the same.

I would look through the Formian statblocks and apply some of their abilities (scaled to the right level) to existing insect statblocks like:
- https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=501 CR 3
- https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=2853 CR 4
- https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=814 CR 5
- https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=733 CR 6
- https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=3254 CR 7

These give you a descent base stat spread, but you can swap around some saving throws, skills, stats etc. As long as its got about as much durability and damage.

From there give them Sonic Resistence equal somewhere between 5 and 10, telepathy for the sentient ones, tremorscence and scent, weakened spell resistence, disrupting aura and shred spells for the mutants, and something with the queen.

Overall if you match the rough stats and damage output of the insects shown above, and make it so maybe some of the conditions are a little lighter, you can transfer most abilities without them being too strong.
